Those who work in other countries follow the law of the land. If they break it is their funeral. They have no godfathers to back them up, least of all our embassies. In this case, GOI was skating on thin ice and they knew it. In India they are above law and they thought they can arm twist in US too - like do you know who I am? But in western democracies there is rule of law where as we don't and hence we have anarchy! I would request these worthies to raise the profile of Indian passports in general which is near rock bottom now. That shows real diplomacy.

The Indians are good but systems have confusion due to the present civil services training. In civil services "one must work in village for about three years to learn on villagers problems" must be introduced. Politicians over play in manipulation of rules and regulations. The system has not distributing power to all Heads of governance, only few had it. The system says it has autonomy but there are no financial resources.Recently in one of the Telugu dailies stated about the judges comment stating that the criminals are freely living and staying in comfortable places. Such cases must be reopened for further investigation. If it is true what else we speak. The journalists, judiciary and security higher officials and legal employees enjoy freedom at every where. If a politician is going for campaign how much money shall be wasted on and how many man hours are going away from work? Recent agitations in AP are best examples. But a common man? He has to go and go on but no final justice unless you are not having support from politicians or higher authorities/ administrators. Let us respect ourselves as Indians First and judge the things in right way.

India used the wrong stick to beat USA
by M Narayanan on Jan 13, 2014 06:26 PM  | Hide replies

India used the wrong stick to beat USA. The lady is on the wrong side of the law. She has a tainted image in Adarsh scam, she has several properties in India whose value has not been properly declared by her (which is a very serious offence as per service rules), she has conveniently forgotten the rule that if an IFS officer marries a foreign national, the spouse has to apply for Indian citizenship etc. etc. The net result is that public opinion is evenly divided in favour of her and against her. Had Indian Government reacted strongly when they came to know about the strip search of Bharat Ratna Dr Abdul Kalam, entire Indian public would have supported the Government. There would not have been division of public opinion.

that is because President is single person. Here in this case all IFS/IAS (so called top brains of India) are worried that in future they will have to under go this ordeal if they dont behave. so they voiced support to their colleague to avoid similar issue in the future.

India has weak mental leaders who don't see America giving chocolates in their mouth and taking honey from our land without taking permission for it.

USA does this to only nations with weak leadership
by Common Man on Jan 13, 2014 06:18 PM  | Hide replies

Imagine USA doing this to China, Russia or even Pak. They know Indian leadership is weak and wont take any action.

Even now, it was the MEA officials who came to her rescue, politcians just gave the statements

We had a weak case, only false pride, right from the beginning and just had to evacuate the person. Otherwise we could have given them a verbal lashing at the court
