amongst all the sects of Christianity, the Jesuits are the most fanatical, and have a zeal for conversion. So if this father had gone to Afghanistan for the same purpose, then Taliban are another set of fanatics who would never tolerate him.

Jesuits are primarily involved in education and medical services. Many of us study or must have studied in Jesuit run schools and colleges and are the better for it. Think before you slander people!

People talking as if this guys is like Mother Theresa and went to do charity in Afghanistan. Did he go through any govt agency or any non-religeous organization.? No he went through a religious organization fully aware that, the region is controlled by taliban who are against his kind of organizations. For doing charity u dont need a religious organization label. His mission was to convert some poor afghans to his religion by doing some charity work. Why dont his organization pay ransom to taliban and release him.I bet they dont care because they will get many more people like him from Kerala and TN.
