India, Italy can still reconcile.....
by adam smith on Mar 13, 2013 08:00 PM  | Hide replies

Yes, on the following conditions:

1. Both the Italian marines to come back to face Indian Judiciary.
2. The Italian Ambassador who gave a false written assurance to the Supreme Court, knowing very well it would never be honoured, should immediately be declared persona non grata and asked to leave at once.

Then India can think of reconciliation.

But does any one see it happening?.... Considering how in the past we have shown no gumption for tough stances.

by yeda peda on Mar 13, 2013 07:56 PM

pls we dont need to spoil any relationship with italy..if we create problem for italy we can expect same problem from othe countries..I heard some somali fishermen were killed by indian navy...so why are they not in prision..
so rss fanatics just with the intention of creating problem for sonia ..just dont try to attack italy..many of the people are so dumb they love jut blindfoldly the italians to be arrested..who asked the fishermen to come near the ship..so understand these sort of basics..dont behave like a taliban ..by spoiling relationship with every one..

The Italians
by daniel thorat on Mar 13, 2013 07:52 PM

The Italians expect India to understand that we can not punish them under our law. We should simply forget the whole thing as a bad accident, pay the kith and kin richly and keep mum. That is the expectation, take it or leave it. India cannot, and if at all it can, will not do a thing about this.

Mr Kumar does not explain what stopped his fellow babus and the courts to decide on the jurisdiction aspect for months together ?!
why is he sheltering the babus who were sitting idle rather than do their homework and advise the politicos as is their job !?

He did not shelter Babus. He is saying Babus are apprehensive to take action because the country involved is ITALY. They want to deny opposition a chance to make an issue and reacted unilaterally without discerning the facts.

If it was indians killing an italian, they would have hanged them there itself..

This will end in no agreement and those italians will be free as usual...

Perhaps, they will get into their jobs again and kill more Indians, being emboldened now.

Well no hard feelings but sometimes i feel India should represent their citizens a little more..Even if you go to a gulf country for example how are you treated compared to americans or europeans. We need to have same protection and rights as US citizens right..Thats my point..

Indian Pride is certainly at Stake
by Jitesh Agrawal on Mar 13, 2013 07:44 PM  | Hide replies

If Italians had a problem with the Indian Judicial System or the way processes work, why did they not put diplomatic pressure to sort out this matter?

Why did they gave a false undertaking before the Supreme Court of India that the marines would return back after voting?

The Indian system was linient enough to allow these marines to stay in hotel instead of judicial custody pending trial though no bail was granted to them. We were generous enough to let them go to celebrate christmas holidays. Do Indians facing trial and languishing in jails get such priveledges?

If at all any diplomatic negotiation has to happen it should only be after those marines come back to India and they still have 10 days before the time expires.

by veerapuram dharan on Mar 13, 2013 07:44 PM

had the victims been tamil fishermen, it would have been a daily strike till the perpetrators are brought to justice. i wonder how come the keralites are not showing their protest in any form. they could take a cue from tamilians.
