Its a clever conspiracy to cover-up the Agustawestland issue. Both the govts are hostile to each other now, so they got the excuse to bury down the scam which could unearth dirty facts of both the countries..
Good game plan and acted by both the state players and we the people of India seething with anger for poor marines who has nothing to do with it....

Jurisdiction is not for police to analyse
by giveanid on Mar 14, 2013 10:20 AM

"Kerala police took them into custody summarily after a unilateral determination by the powers-that-be in Thiruvananthapuram that India has full jurisdiction to put the Marines on trial"

Judiciary determines the finer points, not police.
There was a dead body. That is enough for police to arrest the suspect.

K V
Ambasciatore Italiano

Mr Bhadrakumar should switch nationalities and become the Italian ambassador to India. His convoluted arguments sidestep the basic fact that a written sovereign undertaking to return the accused has been dishonoured. Left to the groveling of people like him, this affair will drag on until a predictable rap on the knuckles for the accused, such as 'suspending' their promotions or pay increases, by an Italian court. India will be made to look foolish and impotent. Which part of this does Mr Bhadrakumar not understand?

Diplomacy has had plenty of chances in this affair. The soft speak of diplomacy works best when one carries a large stick. The time for talking is done. India needs to show some spine instead of listening to indivduals like this who are unfit to represent its interests.

Mr Bhadrakumar, if all the dimplomats are of your calibre, then I am sorry to say, we, as people of this nation cannot trust you or your friends...
The issue here as of today is straight and simple - There was an undertaking in writing given by another soverign country and they reneged on it. This cannot be accepted as diplomacy and talks and such pretentions...since they have reneged and this is nothing but act of treason and mis-trust, any nation has to react, not with caution, but with full diplomatic powers..
All the other argument of case being political, etc does not matter at this time. It does not matter if it is developed country of west or a banana republic of africa..in this situation, they all are viewed with same prism.
