Ashish Nandy!!
by sailor on Jan 29, 2013 12:03 PM  | Hide replies

Nandy has tied himself up in knots trying to justify his statement. However, if it is any attempt to justify the mega scams by the likes of A Raja and others, then he is completely wrong. Anyway what he has said is not politically the right thing to say, even if it is suspected to be true by many.

It is not true at all and there is no justification for corruption by anyone. I completely disagree with Ashish Nandy but i defend his right to say what he thinks is right.

Corruption has everything to do with POWER and nothing to do with CASTE. It's because more people in powerful position are from upper caste that their corruption is not seen (because it's all done in collusion) while the less powerful people indulging in corruption becomes apparent.

Nandi belongs to the most corrupt caste. Why didnt he mention the most venal corrupt nexus between baniya capitalist and bhramin bureaucrat.. both have looted the nation and sucked it dry.

The chaprasi more corrupt than his boss. The boss allows the chaprasi to take a 10 ruppee bribe so that he can take 10 lacs. All the so called upper castes are the bosses. they are a million times more corrupt than the sc sts

Why dont you and your other colleagues in the media, for once read the entire transcript of his speech in stead of reading it in bits and pieces? If you want to selectively chose quotes from his speech then anything can feel like racist

Solnikshka, let the big mouths get one back. When the politicans did the same thing and were quoted out of context the same Nandys criticized. So now they are getting it back... Karma after all.
We have a lot of guys in India who have no work and just comment. There is another group who get " hurt " for all these comments. The media makes money using the two.

curruption verses caste system
by LAKSHMAN DAS on Jan 29, 2013 11:46 AM

Indian politetians doing busines with caste system only. If caste system is not there only can talk about rich and poor only.

At least can expect poor people get chance to groom rich in that case. Imagine if this happened 50 year back .... the picture of present India 100 times better than U.S. by now.

ASHISH NANDY is extremely biased and shortcircuited person
by JAAGRUK INSAAN on Jan 29, 2013 11:44 AM  | Hide replies

He can NOT be labelled as a matured person.

His views can be equated to the old casteist natured brahmins who were short sighted and were very corrupt by nature themselves.

To claim as a social thinker etec etc he will have to go a long ways to mend his views and learn to respect people who work hard , may they be from Sc / ST / or from OBC .

You mean to say that a matured person is one who is always "politically correct"?

Every intellectual has a right to be wrong!!!

Agree. he is a castiest. Long back he was defending the use of the term harijan knowing how derogatory it is. If SCs are hari-jan then the rest must be Pig-jan

If Dalits / SCs / STs are corrupt then what he said should not hurt them and if they are not then what he says does not matter.

What's the point in getting agitated about what people say?

Nice to see broadmindedness - but why single out brahmins?/ Are Thakurs coming home to pick garbage?/ Also is garbage picking dishonourable?

That way you can say that the doctor who dresses your wound is doing a lowly job!!

You are right and I in fact do not like the fact tha Nandy is portraying the "upper castes" as corrupt !! No one is protesting against this!

If he had said that UPPER CASTES alone are corrupt, there would not be any protest - such is our democracy.
