Are we not hypocrites ?
by RajaraoN on Jan 09, 2013 08:11 PM  | Hide replies

Expecting perfect society while we all for westernised life style, even those countries have rapes, crime, paedophiles, molesters etc..

Iam not supporter of rape, never. But to expect a perfect society is near impossible.

One woman on TV told 'even if I walk naked in night/midnight, I shall be secure in India'

But is not it true? even a man is unsecured at nights, he is being robbed, mugged, even killed for money.

On one hand we want western hi life, but on the other we want perfect society which is not even in US/UK!

What about Bollywood? are we have to call imran hasmis as 'serial kisser' or heroines enjoying tag as ITEM girls! Every youth is only watching them...!

you can marry four times while women have to remain covered. No doubt moral ethics are required and courting on sea front and gardens should be the subject of serious discussion.

Theory of accumulated frustrations
by RamRahim on Jan 09, 2013 07:52 PM

I am propounding a new theory of crime i.e. The Theory of Accumulated Frustration. Perhaps the theory of accumulated frustration may explain the reasons behind crimes be it rape, murder or rioting. Perhaps this can explain why young infant girls are raped. In fact, it is not their vulgar dressing which is responsible for the rape, but it is the accumulated frustration in the offender as a result of seeing many mod-shod girls moving in flashy cars. Though, these girls are safe as they have the luxury of cars, friends who can pick up and drop. But frustration caused by the behaviour of these girls and ladies among poor guys is expressed through assault on hapless victims no matter what the age. It is just a matter of opportunity. Of course a strong punishment like death penalty may prove a great deterrant and keep a lid on this frustration, its efficacy will be limited due to existence of huge corruption in the sociaty and police force (which makes investigation and prosecution of rape cases almost impossible except for a few high profile or highlighted cases). Rather we should try to deal with this frustration by providing safety valves as our girls are just not ready to wear properly. One can be subsidisation of movie tickets in multiplexes for front rows or poor people. Secondly, prostitution be made legal. Gender sensitiastion and bringing about attitudenal changes should be the long term startegy.

What do women want to communicate?
by RamRahim on Jan 09, 2013 07:37 PM  | Hide replies

You can see many girls wearing short skirts in high end malls of the capital at almost zero temperatures when the whole world is shivering to the bone? My simple question to these girls is WHY or What for? Any answer from my enlightened women's brigade?

What can be done?
by RamRahim on Jan 09, 2013 07:31 PM  | Hide replies

Historically chastity of women have been given top value as a female virtue and rape has been seen by many invading armies and so called upper caste people as a way to settle scores with enemy or prove their supermacy (while in reality it is weakness of man to overpower a weaker built body, the real test of man's strength would lie in forced sodomy of adults. Thus, working to dispell this myth can be one strategy. But in our modern times and specially urban cities, what we see that most rapes are caused as a result of accumulated frustration. When an ordianry person sees the glare of wealth, sex and freedom (expressed in films, by rich people's dressing and partying). Films used to be a great outlet to drustrations accumulated in these ordinary people by giving vicarious pleasure. However, this is no more avaliable as the rates of tickets have gone up to astronomical heights and are just unaffordable even to upper middle class people. Watching films on small TVs is no longer enjoyable. Any one would recall how the poor rikshawalas would shout at Helen's dances. Govt. must subsidise film shows in multiplexes for the poor. Secondly, it is corruption in police and casteism in the society which are responsible for non-registartion of FIRs in cases of rape. It would be good if the Womens' Commission type set-ups are established down to block level and made the first point of contact for a victim. A FIR needs to be filed by with legal and emotional support of these set-ups.

Agreed.
Politicos, Police, corrupt people, Films and its Divas, non chalant society, nuclear families are all responsible for shrinking moral values.

Though no rape has an excuse but westernised culture without learning good from that society is also major issue.
