This is a foolish step by India to protect the ego of this lady who is an Adarsh scam culprit, wherein these politicians and bureucrats stole defence land. I am sure Pakistan is all smiling now and will get some freebies from USA as the American retialition. The political masters of India (Congress and BJP) have once again sacrified India's national interests for their personal/ego gains/issues.

And how exactly was maid exploited Mr Saeed? By paying Rs.20K per month which is way below US standards? Maid was sponsored and taken to US by her employer and paid much higher than Indian standard for same job. So unless you guys have some facts, lets not talk about this unknown aspect of this case. Although media shud publish some details about maid too.

Dear Nilesh....make your facts right ....when in USA don't think that you can live on indian salary. In USA you need to have salary standards of USA as things are costlier and in line with salaries.let me explain i live in UAE....house rent only for family flat is 45,000 Rs!....so as per indian standard one can live and eat with family but in UAE you can either have house or eat food!...before blaming others and having doubts on others intelligence ,try to think and reason!
you have shown no matter how high profile youare standard procedure applies to u, shame on you india, that why indian law fails going after vip treatment evn for criminal

you know what price americans will have to pay for their increasing hypocrisy ? ..all their moral higher ground of so many years is already undone in vietnam, afghanistan pakistan iraq and scores of other places...time for retribution is near..if there are any sane americans who can cleanse pentagon and CIA should seriously wake up ..tricks and cleverness wont help u
In diplomacy, immunity and niceties are provided to make sure representatives of a country can work fearlessly in the host country. This includes glossing over a lot of minor infractions. If the letter of the law was followed completely, a lot of US diplomats and consular officials could get caught breaking the law in India and elsewhere. Very importantly, someone can cook up a reason to get them in trouble. The law takes a much slower and more painful process in most countries, and US officials would not like to be at the receiving end there. Unless there is good reason to believe that life and liberty of someone is at risk, things like arrest, handcuffing, jailing, searching, etc. of diplomats and consular officials should be avoided. Most of these acts are more drama than anything else because the courts will decide eventually if any law was broken, but these acts cause needless distress and tension in a bilateral relationship. Very poor judgment on part of US Attorney Preet Bharara. Not sure why the US Department of State let this matter shake out in this unfortunate way - people working there are supposed to be career diplomats.

if i may add the name of an a hole called raymond allen davis who was a mere consular officer and to top it he murdered two pakis in lahore. yet americans claimed diplomatic immunity for him and paid blood money and got him out.
i doubt if diplomatic immunity covers matters of murder. americans and law lmao
1. Maintain nanny/domestic help staff as govt. staff and send them to US along with diplomats. 2. Give allowance in US dollars to maintain nanny/domestic help in US.
This is all probably what US wants. Instead the government cut corners and advised the diplomat to get into a personal agreement with a Indian nanny or in other words the nanny is not a Indian govt. employee but a personal employee of the diplomat. As soon as you do that the personal employee comes under US jurisdiction. GOI knew that and still they advised the diplomat to sign false papers to just get the nanny through the airport and then pay her Indian salary. Basically GOI passed the buck on the diplomat by forcing her to engage into a personal contract with the many and get into trouble.
We should find out who in the Indian govt. authorized this action and punish them severely for demeaning India, Indian diplomat and the entire Indian community in US.
americans talk of law on their own land but flout it blatantly across the world..
is it lawful to invade sovereignty of any country and use drones ? ... is it legal to send a fugitive shoooting in lahore and bring him back demanding diplomatic immunity and paying blood money ? ... c'mon uncle sam.. stop acting like a teenager
