Habit...
by ravi kiran on Dec 16, 2013 08:45 PM  | Hide replies

With full respect to the girl who passed away after her brutal rape, i think for these families and the media it has become some kind of a publicity stunt.. What was the necessity of giving the family the award named delhis braveheart!!! Almost i am sure the family has received a donation of about 1 crore till now i suppose which has come from the various governments. What was the necessity of this??? If the family really respected their daughter they wouldnt have accepted all these donations. Now after one year the family again tries to come in front of media and tries to seek justice for their daughter. Admit those culprits should be hanged to death but the family should stop coming repeatedly in front of media. If this is what we need to do to all the families who have been victims of these, then there are several families who have been affected by this and the government should give them money and all the media should reward them for bravery and by the way What bravery did they show??? Is this the way we treat the women of our country.. its sad :(

Ravi Kiran is making a mistake. Widest publicity, financial and other awards, aid, TV coverage, interviews, articles, and all should be given to people affected by rape. India is very backward and these things will help it to get rid of the backwardness towards people in general and women in particular, though a lot more than those things is needed.

At the same we must know that it is all only talk, and talk will not solve the problem. One thing totally missing in India is the desire to prepare girls to kill rapists when they can. Fortunately the British gave India a law which gives in theory the right of self defense even to women, which the Indian culture does not give them till today. This right is being carefully kept away from public knowledge and discussion. It implies that every discussion about rape, including all the street demonstrations of 16.12.2012 onwards, are just a sham like the IC 814 families demonstrating to force the Govt. to save them from their part of the country's problem with Hafiz Saeed.

The Indian National Rape Problem cannot be solved till Indians start thinking honestly about it, which they are not willing to do at present. Indians are merely trying to be rid of the problem without having to solve it first, which is dishonest.

I do understand that we need to solve this problem at the earliest as possible by ensuring death for the culprits involved in the case. I am all for this but i dont think the family here needs to be rewarded with cash. They dont seem like backward to me as they were ok with sending their daughter with her boy friend to late night movie?? If its ok for them to be given cash and engineering seat then their are thousands of families which also need this.. Government should attend to them also.. But first foremost law has to change asap..

@ Ravi kiran, On Seeing your remarks I really think the punishment for such victims are first castration and then stoning to death. Frankly it is not good to take law in the hands of the citizens but if the govt. elected "for the people, by the people" are helpless its best "by the people" to create justice "for the people".

Self defense is not the same as Taking Law into Own hands. Helplessness and inability to fight only encourages crime. it is good if in some cases at least the woman who is naturally alone at the time, manages to hurt the rapists, including killing. It is perfectly legal and part of an individual's duty to take their share of society's burden.

Self defense is also practically the only way for a woman to avoid feeling totally helpless, which is a major part of the harm done by rape. Women must have lifelong preparation to be ready to fight when attacked.
