"He is an illiterate" - this is what Nehruvian socialism has given India after nearly 70 years of independence. It has created an indifferent English speaking liberal group that glorifies Sunny Leone and gobbles up garbage given by Mahesh Bhatt. Unless Bollywood is cleaned up, these will be on the rise.

It is wrong to try to describe random shortcuts as serious solutions. Real problems are not so easy to solve.

One partial solution is to train and equip girls to fight effectively. Even that obvious step is not being taken seriously. It shows how backward the people of India are in finding solutions instead of just crying like babies whenever they see a problem.

Blaming government is a waste of time, because the rape problem of India begins inside the homes of its people and will not go away even partly till the situation of girls in their families that bring them up is improved. As long as they are seen and made to be weak and subservient, there will be people who attack them. It is a natural animal instinct which does not go away till the prey animal starts to fight back effectively.

Why blame JDU/BJP. It was Lallu who brought Bihar to this stage. Nitish is only trying his best to cleanup the dung he scattered all over Bihar

Why is it not possible to arrange commando training for Indian girls. If at all the government has to do anything about the rape problem of India, it should do such immediately useful things as impart serious fighting skills to the class of potential victims, in large numbers and with seriousness.

Meanwhile if the common people really care, why cannot they make arrangements for commando training for girls without waiting for government actions ?

No country for the girl child!
by kunaal gaikwad on Apr 22, 2013 07:47 PM

The events of the past year or so, have thrown up a new but harsh reality - women and in particular, (girl) children are not SAFE in our country. You never know where and in what form the next pervert might lurk - the friendly security guard, the electrician who came to the house or the neighbour! The gradual increase in the number of rapes is an indicator of the dystopian future that awaits the girl child in our country, and we should really hang our heads in shame in our collective failure in this regards!

My friend.. what world are you in. You know ban of alcohol is not going to happen.. correct?. Alcohol flows in even in countries like UAE, Bahrain. Just impose death penalty (after a DNA test and a proof), will solve this issue..Especially, this works in India. And publicize the news. It should be applicable to everyone not just illiterates and common people.

I 100% agree with you Anupam.

The stuppid public is only asking for Commissioner resignation. They should actually ask for alcohol ban to prevent rapes.

Alcohol can't turn a good man to a rapist... Alcohol is just an excuse for rapists...
What makes you think the law/police who won't/can't stop rapes, can/will stop alcohol??

Capital Punishment..
by Deepak Kanojia on Apr 22, 2013 07:31 PM  | Hide replies

The government should declare immediately death sentence to such heinous criminals, as he has already confessed his crime. Or else, they will soon hire some lawyer, who will prove that either these guys were juvenile or not even present in Delhi.

It is fine to make such noble statements. But in our zeal forget that most crimnals are not getting punishment which has been prescribed for. And how many person are getting death sentence in cases where death sentence has already been prescribed for?
If we really want to improve criminal administration, we should seriously consider changing our whole criminal administration system on the line of Justice Malimath Committee's report submitted about 10 years ago.

Once the great land of learning; the great birth place of the great Buddha! now the birth place of such guys. And Nitish claims to be a revolutionist leader bringing in big changes accusing somebody else of being not fit to be in top! Just guess.

It is simple. People need to take the art of living classes. Development and money don't bring the real happiness. People and government should realize this and focus on improving the quality of the lives of people. Education and awareness are the key solutions for these kind of problems. Smart parenting also reduces these kind of incidences to a large extent. Poverty and lack of education deprieves poverty stricken parents from protecting and guarding their young children.
