APJ Abdul Kalam

This article itself is a big indication why APJ Abdul Kalam deserves to be the President (and Prime Minister.) He is the only person in Indian politics who has a positive vision for the nation. Long live Mr. Kalam!

It should be at least forty to sixty kms away.
by kallol paul on Sep 29, 2012 01:27 AM

we can then have reduced affects in uncontrolled exposure.

Standards are falling day by day.

Wait until a disaster strikes, then come and tell us if it affected you or not.

How illiterate! Vehicles kill million people everyday more than any nuclear reactor incident ever in total. So, can we claim vehicles are dangerous in accident and ban them?

Coal based power plants generate Carbon dioxide in huge quantities everyday - also fly ash .. this is slow death for us. Your mobile phones are generating radiation that affects everybody / vehicles, accidents are killing people everyday. Society persists with these even though there are problems with it - benefits are too large to let go. Much stronger is the case of Nuclear power plants - very little pollution and large capacities. We shout when there is power cut, but we do not want power generation - strange logic. There are 450 power plants all over the world. so what if Japanese decide to close down their power plants - Japanese can do without growth for next 20 years. what about you?

Raghavendra your analysis is wrong coal based power plants generate fly ash and co2 yes but both can very easily be controlled by modern techniques and tree plantation.

Nuclear radiation cannot be controlled by any means except possibly thick lead suits. Also the radiation in cellphone and nuclear plant cannot be compared by any standards and fyi radiation in cellphone is bad for you does that mean you want more ??

Nuclear fuel requires lots of energy for extraction and refinement and transportation and storage so its a myth they are clean in fact they are net loss in terms of energy production much like petrol and diesel meaning they harm more than they benefit.

The best possible alternative are wind, solar, ocean waves which need to be not just seriously explored but used.

So it is a myth that any energy is produced from these! Net loss in terms of energy production!

Very kind of this nice couple to come out an support the plant. Whether we agree or not, it is courageous and patriotic and honest of them to say this publically.

Well, I was told that we are moving into an era of rationalism, blah blah. But people continue to make decisions influenced by a mob mentality rather than use their own heads or scientific data.
Given this, there will always be opposition to nuclear plants by vested interests.
