@ rajesh belgaum is ours and entire maharastra shares its culture with karnataka and kanndigas. example: that the names of places in the Maharashtra language were mainly Kannada names. Kenduru is a place with a pure Kannada name near Pune. Further, Thana, Kulaba and Ratnagiri - which are Marathi districts - are full of villages with Kannada names. For example: Poyanadu, Shirola, Kallamatha, Devarakoppa, Akkalakoppa, Ulavi, Attigere, Mosale, Neruru, Pale, Devuru, Doni, Nirgade, Kanakavalli, Brahmanala, Ganagapura, Kuradivadi, Kalasa are villages in Maharashtra! Shri Rajawade, a prominent historian of Maharashtra has admitted that more than half the names of places in Maharashtra are in Kannada!

& kumbha- you mean to say that these places were inhabited by your kannad people. and can you tell me in which year kannad people left these places and why? where they settled then. do you find any traces of kannad people in these places? where native kannadais have gone? why cant they come back claim them now? and from which places marathis migrated here? and what about karnataka? you were directly thrown from heaven into karnataka when universe was formed or you also migrated from some place to karnatka? do you have answer?

maratha regiment was put into belgaum by moguls its not they created their own force...the oldest freedom fighter of india rani chennamma was fron belgaum..then who is she..it was ruled by hoysalas which dynasty they belong to...dont comment blindly..

@rajesh In previous occasions, MES was busy bringing ppl from MA for their agitations. So in order to avoid any disturbances likely to be created by MES, precautionary measures were taken.

wasting money on belgaum is like giving ornaments to a women who is not ready to live with you. and you are forcing her to live with you? to please marathis of belgaum, if they are spendng crores of rupees, that means, they are neglecting other areas of state dominated by kannadigas and this will create a tension in other areas and step motherly treament of the states politican. if justice prevals in india, and if SC give favourable justice, they will not only lose belgaum but also this vidhan souda. hope if kannadigas are intellignet enough, they will understand this.

@rajesh Kannadigas and Marathis are living happily in Belgaume region, but only old generation leaders of MES is creating problems.Vidhana soudha is for the whole north karnataka region covering all the ppl irrespective of the language spoken, so that they can save time travelling to Bangalore for their official related work.
I feel most of politicians in all Southern states including Maharashtra have immature logic that they fight on every issue like : Maharashtra Vs Karnataka :Belgaum Karnataka Vs Tamilnadu : Kauvery Tamilnadu Vs Kerala : Mulaperiyar dam Karnataka Vs Andhra : Almatti Maharashtra Vs Andra : Babali Karnataka Vs Kerala : Kasargod Andhra Vs Telangana : Hyderabad
More surprising thing, these people states go in attacking each other without even proper knowledge of the case which reflects its immaturity.
I feel North is more civilized, though in North there could be gondagiri, they may have water or boundary dispute, but never see such type of violence that other states people are attacked.
Has anyone seen Haryana & Punjab people rioting over Chandigarh or Delhi & UP people attacking each other for Ganga / Jamuna waters.
South people including MS should be more mature in their attitude and act as true responsible Indian citizens.

@Guest - Thats because a large part of North speaks Hindi. And moreover there are many smaller states in north as compared to south. hence many of the problems are already off the plate. As Indian states have been created on linguistic lines, the problem of inter-state demography is less is north as compared to south.

Marathis and Kannadas in Belgaum can live in peace too if Belgaum is in Maha. If your are so concerned about them, then why are you opposing their wish?
