Democracy in this country is a farce
by delhiopinion on May 12, 2012 10:09 AM  | Hide replies

Democracy in India is a farce, we are no better than Saudi Arabia or other fiefdoms, Saudi Arabian monarchs can do a case study on how to parade as a democracy and still hold onto power in Arabia. All political parties, especially the one in power now, are nepotistic in nature, how many of us can really fight and win elections. How many of us can really join a political party such as the Congress or the BJP and reach top positions within the party. However if your father, mother,brother,sister..etc etc are someone in that party, you can reach places. Take for example Rahul Gandhi's most trusted aide, Wharton Graduate Kanishka Singh, his only credentials are that his father is the governor of rajasthan, a Congress loyalist and former foreign secretary. Right from this chamcha to someone like Pilot, Sindhia etc are all ruling because of their daddies. Try going and joining the Congress or BJP and you will know what the reality is. Democracy is a farce in this nation, the truth is we are being ruled by a bunch of power elite, who throw bread crumbs at us once in a while for us to remain happy.

You said it almost correct. Why the example of Rahuls aide ? Rahul himself is an example. There are many efficient, good, senior leaders in Congress itself. But, for Congress, only Gandhi's family can become the PM. Now we can see that our defence heads, president, supreme court judges are under corruption charges. You know to receive Kalmadi, the corruption charged sports minister, a festival was organized at Pune as if he is war hero. This is going to happen to Kanimozi, Raja, or Chidambaram (if found guilty). So understand that in India, we now started worshiping and recognising corruption as a super human quality..Nobody can save India from it...

INDIA'S GREATEST ENEMY HAS BEEN THE INDIAN POLITICIAN, NOT PAKISTAN OR CHINA.OUR ROTTEN POLITICIANS HAVE OPENLY PLUNDERED THE COUNTRY'S COFFERS,HAVE PROMOTED OR INTRODUED RAMPANT AND NOVEL WAYS OF CORRUPTION.THE CURRENT PREZ AND HER FAMILY THROUGH THE SUGAR MILLS DEFAULTS AND LATELY USURPING LAKHS OF SQUARE FEET OF DEFENCE LAND, AND BEING DISCOVERED BY VIGILANT CITIZENS SHOWS HOW DEEP ROOTED CORRUPTION IS.THE PREZ HAS FURTHER TAKEN HER FAMILY ON FOREIGN TOURS IN THE NAME OF IMPROVING INDIA'S IMAGE ABROAD IS ANOTHER SHAMEFUL STATEMENT.INDIA'S IMAGE CAN ONLY IMPROVE IF CORRUPTION IS REDUCED AT HOME ,NOT BY UNDERTAKING COSTLY TOURS.THE BJP AND OTHER REGIONAL PARTIES ARE EQUALLY GUILTY OF SERIOUS AND ROTTEN CORRUPTION

I beg to differ from my fellow writers view. The biggest enemy of India ,is we , the people of this country. The politician comes from among us.
We as people have less & less of moral value with each passing day, want to circumvent the law of the land at every opportunity ( then we sit & cry that the country is becoming lawless ) , are opportunistic, self-centred & corrupt . When such & many other qualities that erode the social & moral fabric of the society prevade among oursleves, how can we expect the politicians who are an extension of us to be good. They are here to loot , & we allow them to loot .
So who is the biggest culprit, WE, no one else. There are 2 set of people, one who support the politicians ( they are few in number , but they call the shots )& the rest who do not support the politicians ( they are in majority ) , but are not bothered about what is happening around them, but want to crib at any given opportunity .
I am more saddened by Indias youth bcoz everywhere in the globe it has been the youth of the country , who have tried to bring in changes, but in our country todays youth are detached totally from reality.
It takes an old man of 70 to awaken people , but there is nobody worthwhile to support him.
The country is going to the dumps .

MP;s account should be investigated, identify corruption earnings
by prem menon on May 12, 2012 09:49 AM  | Hide replies

CBI charge sheet & frozen accounts on jagan mohan reddy’s sakshi news paper, indira television. Corruption money amassed into wealth by Y Samuel raj sekar reddy after giving the kick backs to congress leaders. Sonia Gandhi used to praise on every visit she made to Andhra while Samuel raj sekar reddy was CM while TDP leaders exposed the corruption and killings by ysr & gang of theifs (ministers) All ministers are involved in the corruption. Every one amassed huge wealth un accounted. Even today in Parliament BJp raised the issue on Chidambaram on aircel maxi scam. Congress protecting the theifs. Raja was in jail. People wanted the recovery of ill gotten wealth from each politician & each burocrate, prices should come down. Petrol should be at Rs 30/- a litre cut down taxes so that oil companies makes profit, politicians will not channel excess collections into swiss accounts. Coal rs 10 lac crores was the swindle.

The Govt has helped the Speaker of Loksabha by writing off 2 crores tax arrears. Things have reached to such a stage now. And she would be obliged to the congress party if it brings any anti people resolution

Nehru!
by raman govindan on May 12, 2012 02:37 AM

\"People would flock to hear Nehru initiate debates on international situation, on foreign affairs, etc which were followed by high-level discussions from a national angle.\"

he did that only in plenty. period.
but totally failed in educational and particularly the primary school front. that China scored over us is a fact.

It needed a Kamaraj, less talking, not an oxbridge educated, school drop out to initiate free schooling with free lunch to make an effective dent on illeteracy.

even the communists and marxists followed Nehru in talking, talking, talking, .........
