WIping of behind
by Mahavir on Jul 24, 2012 11:07 PM  | Hide replies

Oparah and her country men still do not wash their behind. They just wipe it - like animals in Africa. WIping your behind is less hygenic than washing it with water.
I would like to see how Oprah and her Fellow countrymen react after hearing this.

Many Indians wash their behinds with water, but never use soap. That leaves their fingers smelling, with particles of excreta under their finger-nails.

Oh, in general, NRIs settled for long in cold countries themselves do not wash their behinds, didn't you know?

Just talk to any NRI who has spent enough time in such countries to find out!

When they land in northern Europe or the colder regions of the US, Indian immigrants persist for some time with their practice of washing their behinds (with heated water, of course). But, with the passage of time and once they come to know and experience the convenience of using advanced toilet tissues (that come in a hundred varieties, many of which are treated with anti-bacterial agents and are called 'wet swipes', do the job so well that using them would be practically as hygienic or even more hygienic than using water).

And the great majority of Indians back home are simply too poor and too lacking in facilities such as enough running water to use soap and simply finish the 'job' by using just a mug or two of water, dont they??

And one can bet for certain that Oprah would know every bit of this series of facts! The World Sanitation Congress (that conducts detailed surveys about the state of sanitation in the different counties) has a very great deal to say each year about India!! And these reports also appear in various discourses of the UN regarding the 'Millennium Development Goals'! Awareness about the MDGs and the state of world poverty (and about the numerous indicators of poverty such as sanitation) is high among the westerners!

They use either wipes or faucets followed by wipes (these faucets are known as 'bidets' and shoot water directly at the area to be washed)!

At last some article which made sense wrt the world 'mockery' towards india.the statement "Africans are always at the receiving end from all sides" was really funny cos its true. That is the reason y i enjoy dave chappelles standup comedy. He says that it should be taken in the right spirit.Infact, that eases tensions betwen communities!...but india is way too far to understand this at least 3-4 decades far.

So, what's wrong with eating with your hands?
by Partha Choudhury on Jul 24, 2012 10:29 PM

In fact, a hand is the best fork, spoon, knife, chopsticks, slicer, juicer, blender, food processor that was ever invented. Oprah can't eat with her hands properly, that's her problem. Instead of getting angry at her, we should take pity on her and teach her how to eat with your hands.

Eating with your hands has got nothing to do with lack of toilets - not sure what the author's point is?

Are we blind?

Are we blind? Can't we see our own shortcomings?

Do we need a foreign TV diva to tell us we are pathetic?

If only we can be ashamed of ourselves.............i am not talking of the common man on the road.............as a traveler in India, when i fly and board the Shatbdi...........where you come across the so called elite.......you see the worst kind of behavior.............talking loudly, behaving boorishly, thinking they bought the public utility service just because they bought a 'ticket'..........sadly these are the MD, VP, GM who still sporting a suit and behaving worse than a 3rd standard kid...............if only we can be ashamed of ourselves!!.....

this also is a result of bad culture, we don't follow any dignity of labor, eg we still downgrade a person who cleans ur dirt, however u keep the person on ur head to makes the society dirty..

Though what u are saying about being constructive is correct but Oprah's comments about eating habits is inappropriate coz its American perception. I dont feel anything wrong in eating with hands. Its same feeling when u say black to a black guy. Here u r argument fails.
