The issue is not about believing or respecting a particular religion.
The issue is about people having the right to read, discuss and propagate whatever belief or faith that they belong to, in a country like India which is a secular democracy!
A person has as much of a right to read, print, publish or discuss the Bible, Kuran or Gita or for that matter, any book or person TRASHING religions too.
Dr.Zafarul Khan seems to be very communal. We muslims should not listen to these kind of statements made by people to gain publicity at the cost of our peacefull religion. As peaceloving people we can't harm salman or Taslima. Its time for we muslims to debate on more crucial issues like frredom to our long suffering women, long pending modern education our childeren, birth control etc..

99% of the firebreathing Is1amists protesting his visit have no idea of what is written in Satanic Verses or even read one of Rushdie's books!
The pseudo secularists, NGO types and self styled liberals who keep breast beating about Babri demolition, Gujrat riots & Modi, false encounters, saffron terror, Army brutality in Kashmir and other such issues are now maintaining a studied silence!
The sad truth is that such fellows are imp0tent in front of the Is1amist & radical forces

Kerala is is our first Islamic Republic within India. That teacher was a ignorent guy,
succeeding in intimidating Rushdie and by extension, the govt. of India or the Hindu zealots succeeding in doing the same in the case of M.F Husain, the Indian nation repeatedly proves that it is no more progressive in the specifics related to basic human rights than the Taliban is !!
And the stuxpid-as-ever middle class Indian commoner keeps crowing that India is 'emerging' and on its way to its appointed place as the 'nation of the 21st century' !!

M Fida Hussain was well within his rights to make the paintings as he deemed fit. Hinduism is NOT a theological religion but
an amalgamation or assimilative system of ideals, belief, divergent ideologies, a composite culture. It has always provided
room for diverse viewpoints, philosophies and even a place for say rationalists and atheists like me too. So depicting
figures artistically or with sensuality and even nudity is not TAB00 at all.
Maqbool Hussain should also have come back to India and under protection if required. But he opted to stay in Qatar!

That is precisely why I trash theological religions!
Nobody cares for any priest or baba giving funny & absurd fatwas! The average Hindu would laugh in the face of their priests/g0dmen who utter absurdities like what the Deobandis have done! MAny love Hussain's painting as well.
Is1amist on the other hand, have a well documented record of stifling arts, culture, free speech, gender equality, etc!
