As long as muslim students dont have to take part its probably ok. But the human mind does not take easily to mumbo jumbo of other religions than ones own though when ones own is concerned lip sync is achieved without too much thinking.

The fatwa against Surya Namaskar reminds us of funny things happening in our country. Mayavathi building her own statues, EC's directions (edicts) to cover statues of Mayavathis and elephants, demand by the muslim clergy to deny visa to Rushdie. Is it not strange that so many childish things are happening in our country and we are discussing them?

sridharji: forget discussing. we even end up fighting with ourselves on such petty issues.
so our politicians have realized how immature we indians are and they have exploited us to the hilt.

Sohail I do not want ever to fight. Muslim,Hindu,Christian, etc., clergies-all are worried about losing control. Their livlihood depends on the no. of people who listen to them. In this case a fatwa should have been used with great care particularly when elections are going to happen in the states. The fatwa will now be labelled a political gimmick by the opposition. After all the competition does not ask for compulsory participation.

Sohailji, The need of the hour is tolerance and acceptance. Therefore Gita, Koran, ible, etc should be made a compulsory part of the school curriculum in every state, with students having the option to take a book of their choice and additional weightage given to these subjects.

you can ask questions to clear your doubts. Our ideology is we dont worship which has been created but we worship the "CREATOR"...

Planet Surya (i.e Sun) provides Light & Energy to the Earth(or Universe)without that o life is possible, in other way Surya is also a Creator of Life b'coz it creates the Energy & after all this is matter of Health 7 not the woeship be clear about it.

sridhar: we never asked for any reservations...
this is all a political gimmick played by various political parties to woo certain sections of the society.
I feel instead of fighting on such petty issues we should work together as one if we want to develop as a nation.
Personally speaking, I am against all kinds of reservation. Jobs should be purely on the basis of merit alone.

Sohail, I get you perfectly and you are right that these are political gimicks.Instead we should ask the clergy for a fatwa against such politicians or a fatwa asking the community not to avail of these reservations. Can't we see a pattern in these fatwas?

Accepting subsidy fr Haj is also un-islamic. This has been disclosed by the Nawab of Arcot himself. Perhaps you would augue you never asked for it, but why do your people accept it?

religious gangs

Why doesnt MP government do something more useful to masses than this "Surya Namaskar". I have lived in MP in BJP tenure and they do make you to follow these "voluntary exercises". This is nothing but fundamentalism in a secular country like ours

I must also observe that the prime concern of indian muslim leaders should be upliftment of community through modern scientific methods, laying emphasis of bijli, sadak paani, most of all good quality education. they have become poorer than dalits in all indicators. BJP and RSS should realize that it is only and only the economic development which will uplift muslims and make them more patrotic (if that is what is there agenda).

Muslims should also give up the concept of UMMA (universal muslim brotherhood. For them there hindu countrymen should be more like brothers than some unknown muslims living in palestine.
I fail to understand there anti- israelism and anti americanism when both these countries are very friendly to us.

Country should be above religion both to hindus and muslims. Though BJP is bringing shame to hindus by all there dramas but certainly 80-90% hindus consider there country above there religion. I wonder how many muslims fall into that category?

Actually all the religions have become like organized gangs. They seldom follow the ideology of religion , but only use it as an instrument of collecting mobs.

Neither Muslim Leaders nor Hindu Leaders or Dalit Leaders are interested in upliftment of masses. They are only interested to raise such issues, create rift, enjoy riots taking place and again claim some compensation to be siphoned off by them to unknown destination. If merit was only criteria the present leaders would have lived in village with bare minimum needs. However, they, with their communal agenda became leaders and are not ready to do anything good to common man.... MERA BHARAT MAHAN

Surya Namaskar is good for health
by prasad dasharath on Jan 11, 2012 04:32 PM

In fact the Surya Namaskar exercise is good for health, every position (total 12) of surya Namaskar is a diff. yogasan & these 12 yogasanas performed in a particular sequence will be greatly helpful for the human health is accepted worldwide. This sequence of 12 asanas (i.e 'Surya Namaskarar') is more beneficial if done in the early morning (i.e. shortly after the sunrise). So my dear M friends theres no question of Idol worship arises, don't get misunderstood by the word 'Namaskar'. The Sun isn't an Idol, its a planet (Like u people worship the Moon in the day of Eid. I have myself observed many M*uslims in Singpore, Indonesia & Malasia performing the Surya namaskar, various yogasanas & even chanting 'Om' during the Pranayam exercise, still they are Muslims they are not Hindus, so why r u trying to create unnecessary tension here? I once again request u to not to attach any religious label to the Indian style of exercises, be liberal be Secular & take the fatwa back or ignore it.
