We have seen LAWS/POLICE/COURTS, but are they of any use ? Of course no. The thing is people dont fear LAW, use the SAUDI type LAWS to hang/punish in PUBLIC. Un-Civilized people learn the Un-Civilized way, so better use such extreme punishment like in Middle East.
To me the present day laws in India are good and need not undergo any change expect for anomalies which need to be corrected.
The major change that has to be brougt is faster and proper justice delivery system..... dont let cases drag on for ages..... have more courts and judges to dispose off pending cases, that will be enough deterent for people to do anything criminal act...... cases of rape and murder should be put to fast track courts with judgements to be delivered in 3 months.
Death penalty in rarest of rare case of murder has been in place for ages, but has that stopped murders from happening?????? No, so having death penalty for rape is not going to rapes being committed...... and please dont create a draconian provision like 498A of IPC which is misused more then used.

Need strong law for Rapes and Acid Attacks like crime. I dont think present law is sufficient.

there is no fault in present law but it is not implimented correctly even if new law is made what is the gaurantee that they gonna take action fault is with the complete indian system

No one can stop criminal and henious acts which are not allowed in a civilised society and thats why we have law and law enforcement process to punish guilty...... the problem in India is that law enforcement is almost missing thereby making everyone believe that they can get away by doing whatever they want to.

Even the simpler forms of harassment such as teasing and taunting on the streets needs to have a very strict punishment- unbailable and up to a years imprisonment. This should be publicized in every media available.. We need to GREATLY publicize the death penalty of convicted rapists to make sure that each and everyone has the fear of this in his/her mind ...... We need to make sure that all cases of reported rape are handled independent of political influence (difficult to do) We are human animals and therefore need to have the stick close at hand to behave properly.. forget about higher values etc..
India System -(Police Force, Courts, Infrastructure, Technologies, Educations, Resources) is not good enough to protect 1.3 million & the population is 1.3 billion, Simple is that. Millions of kids(male) grow up like animals & do all kinds of crimes when they become adult.
Don't waste time lighting candles & shouting slogans...those sitting in govt. won't listen you because we people don't have unity...say this much things to Indian politicians & they will do everything you want:
i) Tell them you are gonna use form 16-H in the next elections ( that u don't like any candidate) if govt don't make a rule to hang in public rapist who did the crime
ii)This govt like to hear only in terms of votes. so tell them that "we will vote only to them who bought the rule of hanging for rapists. If govt brings in then they would be getting vote but if they fail & delay then they would never get our vote" this govt is mad after vote so they will do everything for getting vote.
iii) Indian girls should now make their own union & learn marshal arts. They should ask govt to give proper combat training from retired army people so that in need they could fight back rather then calling some stupid helpline number which are different in different states. Besides who knows whether in hard time one gets to dial a phone call or not.
iv) sports and combat/self-defense should be made compulsory subject for girls in the school itself. Special training should be provided by all schools.
This country now needs awakening & especially from women because it would be nice to be self-dependent rather then expecting from others esp. from our govt. as they only care for their party & no one else.
such discussions will not change or dissaude mental attitudes.If you want to help Nation.Pl do something that can help Men to respect woman.Start with 5 yr old boy

according ur logic, if rape is there for long time why are complaining now? Yes lust is part of the nature of humans. But it was being controlled well before. Now in the TV, movies, internet, billboards, bars, it's all about sex, violence & instant gratification. So people's minds are distorted. No amount of police protection will stop these crimes unless we control the things ?I mentioned above.

I agree the trash in Bollywood,commercial tv channels and internet have collectively done more harm to pristine human values and virtues than 300 years of foreign rule. We have to adopt best from west and east with open discerning discrininating mind.
