STOP THE ABUSE
by shailesh on Dec 04, 2012 06:20 PM  | Hide replies

To all those writing on this board supporting the parents that they did something in child's interest by punishing them, PLEASE take help and counselling yourself.

Such corporal punishments is serious debilitating for child's development. Parents have to find other ways to discipline children.

Dear Shailesh,

I very much agree with you but 85percent india are typical indian parents but unaware of whats happening in other parts of world. But they should forgive the parents as first warning and leave them because now itself they are half dead and traumatised and advocate both parents for good counselling.

Serious indeed, but
by vorpal on Dec 04, 2012 05:38 PM  | Hide replies

If "there were burn marks and scars on the body of the child, who has also been beaten by the belt," the parents deserve no sympathy. The only question is what happens now to the poor child. I wish there were similar laws in India, with provision for taking care of the child victim. I say this in the immediate context of what my maidservant told me yesterday: her husband beat up their 11-year old child with his shoes.

You have quoted the prosecution charges but what about the lawyer's defence stating that,"They did not hurt their children..."

A maid servant belongs to a class where beating is very common in India....but that doesn't mean that all other educated people also does the same in that way....How many families you have seen beating their child with belt and burn marks & scars on the baby's body.....its rubbish....The story told here is certainly not all....we need to know the truth from the Parents & the Child....

Unlike India where children are left to defend for them self. Children are priority in the west, and are looked after very well.
Two things will happen, first will be in the care of immediate relatives such as grand parents of either side.
If none are capable to look after then they will be placed in government care in a either temporary fostering in which case the childern will go back to the parents if the government is satisfied that they are safe.
Or Children will go in permanent fostering until the are old enough to make their own decision ( normally age 16), then it is up to the children where they wish to stay.
To start with the children will go to a government home with a nanny to look after them, until a permanent home is found for them.
All cost is borne by the government
Children are not thrown on the street or in hands of relatives who do not care .

Norway trying to stop immigration through these methods....
by asliSwadeshi on Dec 04, 2012 05:35 PM  | Hide replies

UK, USA made their immigration norms stringent, but their employers still wanted Indians to work for them, so now Norway has started using different tactics to stop immigration by Indians, whose immigration they think will result in unemployment amongst the Norwegians...

This can be supported by the fact that this is not the first Indian couple to run into trouble with child services in Norway..

Also, the child in question was found to be hyper by the Norwegian child services and so they themselves sent him home; why would they do that when they found burn marks and belt beatings on his body????

the crown princess of norway recently came to India to take possession of twin children (born through a surrogate) of one of her employees. Surrogacy is not legal in norway and this incident only shows the double standards present in the norwegian system....

If the norwegians were so worried about the child, why did they return him to his parents and that too after finding burn marks and belt beatings on his body????

as far as the crown princess issue goes, it only shows how even the royalty of that country openly flaunt with the rules and opt for the Indian ones where it is convenient for them...

I don’t think its just that. “Foster children” are in great demand in Norway and other scandinavian countries where there is so much money to be milked from the govt by the “foster families”. There are organisations which say that there exists a racket in Norway to get kids for foster families as that’s an easy source of good amount of money. And most often the children of expats are easy targets. Search the net for Norway’s track record, and also what the UN has said, in terms of taking children away from their natural families.
And some idiots seem to suggest “be roman when u r in rome”. There are international laws that give fundamental rights to parents to bring up their kids as per their customs. A country can not simply impose its laws on international citizens. In this case, reports say, they were not given access to help as they were not Norwegian citizens, but they r jailed under norwegian laws on managing a child!

That might be the reason too!

But in midst of all this... have the norwegian authorities ever given a thought for the boy's future?? certainly, it would be hard for the parents to find employment after facing such charges and not to forget that they would always remain a bit distant and aloof from the child, thus denying him the love a child would normally get from an Indian family...
So, infact the nowegians have all but destroyed the child's life at such a tender age...

Different perceptions
by Vishvaksenah E on Dec 04, 2012 05:10 PM  | Hide replies

Suppose the arrested Indian couple were secularists, what would have been the response from the Govt. of India?
The entire country would have risen and there would have been lot of protests from the MEA, PMO and and all other authorities.

When a certain secular physician was arrested in Australia, our Hon. PM lost his sleep.

When the Italian crew of a ship killed our fishermen by mistake, and they were arrested, the Govt. of Italy intervened and got its citizens released. Murder was committed on Indians.... but they were let free. That is how a govt. should work.

But in this particular case, an India couple who have not broken any law have been arrested and our spineless MEA says it is none of the business of the Govt. of India.

SOUTH INDIAN CINEMA JUSTICE AT SHOW: RAPIST MARRYING THE VICTIM!
by Kabeer on Dec 04, 2012 05:10 PM  | Hide replies

From the information available the Courts ruling is appropriate.

These parents are not jailed for threatening the boy to be sent back to India; that is not the offence but just a statement made among others which are actually significant. But the Indian media always want to show anyone harming their haloed cyber coolies in poor light and hence selectively chose that statement.

It must be noted that not just in Norway where the couple are residing currently, but even when they were in India, the State welfare agencies had taken custodianship of the same children on the very same allegations.

After keeping the children under its custody for some time, they let go only after the parents had given substantial assurances that the same would not be repeated.

But sadly the same appear to have repeated when they are in Norway.

In India, particularly the region they hail from where world's highest number of cinemas are produced every year, the culture is endorsing asking the rapist to marry his victim as a punishment; that's all.

Having bred and raised in these cultures where even the censor board do not object to these themes in cinemas, it is hardly surprising that most of the Indians find it harsh the sentence they got.

Burning the child's skin with hot objects and hitting the boy with a leather belt is symptomatic of the popular culture in these areas which many wives find acceptable.

In schools in their areas teachers often hurl wooden dusters at high speeds on students

In Bangalore when a cyber collie husband was made known to beat his wife allegedly for DISCIPLINING HER, his employer, i.e. Infosys, had terminated his services from the Company.

Wonder what TCS does now, since their employee got even convicted by a judicial system many look upon
