global power
by Dev on Apr 02, 2012 07:06 PM

do we want to become a global power?
or economic power?
we dont want to go fighting in all parts of world.and then brag about it.
We just want to have a good quality of life for all indians - to achieve this itself will take us till 2100 ie end of century ( and PRIORITY #1 :we also need to get to negative pop. growth AS SOON AS POSSIBLE !!!!!)
other thing is that we want to get a reputation for indian goods, services, innovation etc
this is all we need to aim for.
(to achieve this we need to find all possible methods to avoid waR. in this regard govt.babus have to learn a lot. go to any extent and use spy, internal meddling, cyber, forming alliances etc end result: avoid waR and save us Money and headache! )

I think william avery is a nutcase because he suppresses fifty odd years of continuous srilankan buddist communalism against tamils.

India & next few years
by dhananjay kritu on Apr 02, 2012 06:42 PM

Author's data may be all right, but his evaluation is not.He expects too much of MMS, but he forgets one basic point - MMS is a professor & a Babu. He was RBI governor - only task being to satisfy Indiraji. He was FM with Narasimha Rao, only task was to satisfy IMF & WB. He was never in a leadership position whereby he had to fulfill the aspirations of people & be answerable, at the same time. to expect MMS to take a clear decision is too much

At a house that has 10 person each with 1 Rs a salesman cant sell
by abhbhat on Apr 02, 2012 06:38 PM

At a house that has 10 person each with 1 Rs., a salesman cant sell much except rice and salt.
But if the same house has 2 people with 5 Rs. and rest with 1 Paise each, that salesman can sell weapons, cloths, perfume, tv, cars, candy etc.
If an economic policy helps to convert the house1 into house2, then the Salesman is happy with that policy maker. Cheers to both. Also cheers to the 2 people who will get 5 Rs. And to the remaining 8 people with peanuts, better luck in your next birth.

india, a Biggest customer
by David Dak on Apr 02, 2012 02:13 PM

"Number one on their list of markets will be India. The big prize in the next 50 years will be Indian customer, not the Indian supplier", he says.

Yes, india is already biggest customer for buying weapons.

I am surprised he didnt further advocate, water boarding and other forms of torture also ! Why didnt he give the same advice in dealing when kosovo rebels were splitting Serbia ? Because it was an opportunity for the US to establish a base there ?

They don't need to recommend water boarding. Our police and other agencies already use torture on common civilians (not just terrorists).

Superb analysis. Agree whole heartedly to every word. But everyone forgets the kind of government most of the time India had. It was only during Vajpayee's short term that India really grew. And then the vultures were back. The entire attention of those who matter is how to mint money and not get caught. There is no will to even think about India's growth, forget action

Atleast, many in the BJP condemn the capitulation. What would have happened had the PM been from Nehru family? No one from the PM's party will attack the leader-and there will be no meaningful discussion on this and hence no progress in this matter at all
