if only "minorities" in India work hard and patriotic as minorities in America... then India would be better than USA..
IN INDIA, WHICH WAS A BLESSED LAND ONCE UPON A TIME, HAS BEEN CONVERTED INTO A CURSED LAND - THANX TO THE ROTTEN GOVT. OF INDIA, THE ROTTEN SYSTEM, THE ROTTEN POLITICAL PARTIES, & A COUNTRY FULL OF ROGUES & RASCALS AT EVERY LEVEL!
ONCE THEY LEAVE THE INDIAN SHORES, INDIANS SHINE & CONTRIBUTE TO THE WORLD & HUMANITY OUTSIDE OF INDIA, BUT NOT IN THEIR OWN MOTHERLAND!
Why are we 'celebrating' this news? It is good this gentleman has invented some thing useful but what do India getout of it so as to claim he is 'Indian American' Every American (baring native) is a migrant. This guy was born, bought up, educated in USA and why should we give so much importance for his nationality?

You are right it is only because, he we do not appreciate human talent. We have got the chalta hai attitude. There was one Indian who got the Nobel Prize and we all boasted he was a Indian. But he said - I am an Indian but I now belong to America. Here jealousy is so so much that a talented person cannot survive. We are like this only. There are many Indian who are doing very well and great for themselves. It is because they are encouraged and cared and they appreciate talents. In Indian you need to be a son or a daughter of a celebrety.
I like his geetting the license for plumber and electrician. that is unlike most of our egg heads in India! here we do not respect one who puts in certain amount of physical labour as part of his work and dismiss him with contempt! fortunately Shwetak Patel was raised in USA.
How can we call this gentleman American Indian?! He is born and brought up in the USA. Except for some familial ties, he did not have anything to do with India. I doubt if he himself is happy to call himself an "American Indian"! Nevertheless, kudos to his achievement. Guess the amount needs correction to Rs.2.4 crores as some readers have already pointed out.
I fail to understand why the media has orgasms after orgasms when an Indian origin American does something. We went gaga over Bobby Jindal and he finally claimed he is American, we did the same with Vikram Pandit who is a US citizen. There are so many jews, germans, african and english ( to name a few) origin people who make it big in the US. Do all the countries drool over them. Stop this inappropriate propaganda. This chap is born in America and is every bit an american!

Most Indians still live in inferiority, of skin color, of nationality, of education, of work, of talk, of eating, of anything. They have not come out from slavery of British.
