We are at X roads

We are at cross roads;we do not know as to which direction leads to where. We have become highly materialistic & are forgetting our culture & values preserved by our elders mainly because of the wrong priorities we developed-thanks to this so called technological advancement & the modernity, sophistication etc it has brought to us.and the fault also lies with the wrong educational policy which gives emphasis on vocational & technological courses on the reason of their showing a livelihood instead of also focusing on the art & culture. Earlier,at school level, there used to be lessons on eminent people in the fields of,literature, art & culture;instead there is a shift in the focus-this again is due to lack of knowledge of these even by the concerned teachers. An unfortunate & lamentable state of things indeed!A day may come when our posterity may ask as to who was Gandhji-leave alone the other great people like Tagore,Galib or Kabir.Spiritualism is one thing being totally 7 conveniently forgotten by this present generation.Seldom many children know at least the outline of our great epics like Ramayana, Mahabharata & Bhagavatham. Many can quote freely about comics & cricket matches. And equally guilty are the parents who knowingly gloss over these things out of their dream realisation of seeing their kid either as a doctor or an engineer instead of a similar craving for making their child a good artist, poet, painter or a dancer.

Modernization has its benefits in better facilities and standard of living. Taking the good from both, the rich cultural heritage and modern industrialized world, at the same time discarding archaic prejudices is possible.

Modernisation does have its plus points & brought lot of sophistication-rather more than what is needed thanks to the technological advancement. But with all this, man is peaceless these days & leads a life of "chase" since his yearning for materialism & wants have grown with every successive innovation & longs to look at technology for satisfying them..Is it good & at what cost? Do not you think that our forefathers, even in the absence of all these things, led a more happy & contended life upholding the cherished values which we tend to forget these days. The blend of old & new-rather value upholding & sophistication is ideal, but how many people are ready to balance/make a reconciliation so -especially all the values taught or our elders held are being seen as mere clownishness/ sentiments. Unfortunately,we are not, properly, harnessing the knowledge that we acquire through the improved technology in co-ordination with what was taught in our scriptures. All the inventions that we see now were very much there even in ancient days n some other form/s-say like the "Pushpak Viman" which was nothing but the present day aero-plane.Only difference is that they were available only to those who deserved them while every thing is now available for ever one regardless of their eligibility to enjoy. This is an endless debate which does not cease by a couple of write ups.The basic precept is that old is always gold with its eternal value.

Tagore was a multi-faced personality with expertise in Music, Painting, Lyric Writing, Music, Fiction and Non-Fiction. Don't compare him with Ghalib, Faiz & Kabir who played to galleries by indulging in some street brand poetry or whatever.

Not "multi-faced" But multi talented so was Galib but in different fields.
Both walked same distance but in different routes.

Ghalib,Faiz,Kabir & Tagore are four pillars on which the Indian Sky is stayed upon. There are many many stars on Indian sky but the four named earlier are vey stron pillars & base to keep Indian sky intact for everlasting span of time.Four are immortal. It does n't matter whether one remembers them or not. Also it matters little that one does n't know much about them. Also if there was no monuments or memoirs or ceremony after their names.Ghalib,Faiz,Kabir & Tagore are UNIVERSAL & OMNIPRESENT guiding and throwing their light on our lives to make us free from MISERIES. SUN & MOON do n't bother for their temples or songs of their glory built or sung by mortals.

I agree. Shakespeare is a symbol, not a person anymore.
