Political class to be blamed ... army should deny politicians
by Parichay on Oct 16, 2011 11:28 PM

First the corrupt politicians keep people in distress and deprived state.
When people take rebel ways our corrupt politicians send our army (I am proud of them) to clean their (politicians') guilt.

Problem is in numbers
by vilas tamhane on Oct 16, 2011 11:21 PM

The way we never liked to be ruled by British, some converts dislike to be governed by Hindus. This is quite natural and we should respect their views. This was recognized in the past and Pakistan was created. But this did not solve the problem because Hindu population in Pakistan had been reduced to about 2% from 22%; whereas in India their population increased from about 11% to 15%.
If Pakistan is ready to absorb their brothers here, so as to equalize demographic balance, then I don’t see anything wrong in meeting demands of Kashmiris.

this is what happens when you act impulsively without thinking about it. The social activists who are crying foul against AFSPA in the name of democracy, easily and convinently forget that democracy does not exist in vacuum. There are certain set of laws that need to be upheld to ensure democracy. Preventing anti-national activities that hit at the root of democratic set up is one of them. If AFSPA prevents a democratic nation from breaking into pieces, it is very much needed. It is not like if parents love their kids, they allow the kids to leave home on their own will. Kids do need strict parenting and this does not undermine love of parents towards kids. Something similar happening here.

Why this movement against AFSPA ? Without AFSPA there will be no protector of demoracy, then which democracy wil you talk about ? In the states where AFSPA has been applied, its the local populace who need to rationalize their thought and try to help their army. If they help their jawans what is the use of any hard tactics from army ? Calling against AFSPA is like making a mockery of our jawans who give their life and blood to save our nation. We can not ask them to fight a war with a hand and leg tied. Sorry, I do not support this movement. Please ask people in Kashmir and Imphal to be less notorious.

On November 2, 2000, in Malom, a town in the Imphal Valley of Manipur, ten civilians were allegedly shot and killed by the Assam Rifles, one of the Indian Paramilitary forces operating in the state, while waiting at a bus stop.[4][5] The incident later came to be known to activists as the "Malom Massacre".[6] The next day's local newspapers published graphic pictures of the dead bodies, including one of a 62-year old woman, Leisangbam Ibetomi, and 18-year old Sinam Chandramani, a 1988 National Child Bravery Award winner.

Do we condemn this? Why should innocent be killed? National integrity is important but life of innocent citizen civilians are of the highest importance.

Army took oath to protect us and they are doing so greatly. Actually for very few ruthless army men the entire army is earning bad name.

I have already told you that these are exceptions not the rule. There are drivers that do not drink and still cause accidents. ANd there are those that are drunk and still drive without hurting anyone. Both these cases DO NOT break the correlation between drunk driving and accidents. Similarly any of your examples do not break the arguments in favor of AFSPA. Individual cases should be dealt accordingly without questioning the basis for the whole set up.

WHY SHOULD ARMY CLEAN THE SINS OF POLITICIANS?

THEY SHOULD DENY POLITICIANS AND STOOD BY THE REBELS.

Got oyour point, but what you are trying to do is stretch one picture too far to cover the whole canvass. Try to have a holistic view. See why AFSPA was applied in the first place, what was the logic behind it and comment on those as well to make your arguments more credible.

We Indians stand solidy behind our brothers in the army, navy, air force, police and paramilitary. The nation is proud of its warriors. Anyone who tries to target them under the garb of "social" sloganeering is an anti-national and must be ruthlessly crushed, without any remorse. All these mombattiwaalaas, who of course, never shed a tear for the Hindu victims of Islamic genocide let loose against them, must be treated as anti-national traitors (some of them, if not all, are possibly on the Paki ISI's payroll, as the Fai expose revealed). They are guilty of waging war against India and are therefore, legitimate targets to be hunted down.
