We earn for our failures when ordinary cadres pay for that.
by Ahi Sen on May 18, 2011 11:14 AM  | Hide replies

Prakash Karat has gone to the top post without working for it. People close to him are aware how he earned grace of his mentor AKG. Therefore, for him ordinary members of the party are only fodder. Today when thousands of cadres are facing physical violence and liquidation in the villages of West Bengal-he is lecturing staying in comforts of guarded AKG Bhawan. He is earning not learning from his failure as Gorbachev did by liquidating the Soviet Union.

CPM's learning skills
by binayak mitra on May 18, 2011 11:02 AM

You learn when you genuinely admit your deficiencies - today CPM's land policy is being projected by the Politbureau for its defeat in West Bengal. But again as Leftists do it over and over agian, they fail to see the obvious - god knows what their long discussions are for. Who would conceive of a industrial policy which will only provide 5 star service to new entrants like Tata & Salim while existing industries suffer in the hands of Leftist leaders like Laxman Seth - who has to be give a cut whatever you want to do in Haldia. Why does the government ministries and agencies employ so many Group D and clerical staff and now to pay their salaries they have to borrow getting the entire state in debt? And what about accountabilities - did any minister or bureaucrat get pulled up for failing on key deliverables - action is only reserved for those who do not toe the party line and not for the corrupt and incompetent. So the Left has conveniently hidden under the sand and have not found any other mistake in their governance and policies - the bogey is land aquisition. You can imagine what corrective steps will come out of such an analysis.

Karat's lessons
by ramakrishnan balasubramanian on May 18, 2011 11:02 AM  | Hide replies

The CPIM's downfall started with Late Harkishen Singh Surjeet, a well-known chamcha and sycophant of Congress and Sonia Gandhi. The party had all along maintained equi distance from both BJP and Congress. In the name of fighting communalism, Surjeet aligned with Congress and in the bargain forgot to fight for the the common people and the working class. Their politbureau was also dumped with, like the CWC, leaders without any connect to the grass root. A party which was born and sustained out of the struggles of great leaders like EMS, Ramamurthy, Sundaraya, AKG, Pramod Das Gupta, Muzaffar Ahmed etc., unfortunately also saw, at a later stage, leaders like P Vijayan, epitome of corruption and misrule and factonalism. Earlier the leaders surrendered their propers to the party and in the last two decades the present leaders swindled public money for their families. in States like Tamil nadu, the party was happy with jumping into the bandwagon of either DMK or AIADMK and never tried to come up on their own even if it meant losing all the seats you are fighting for. That would have shown you real strength. The spread of the party to the Hindi speaking states, as planned in Salkia plenum failed to take off. While these are reasons for the downfall of the party nationally, in West Bengal, there are three reasons why the party failed miserably. Administration passing on to bureaucracy, rampant corruption, Singur, nandigram resuled in loss of power. Worst days ahead for CPIM!

Ramakrishnan Balasubramanian, you are 100% right.Party become the stooge of Congress and try to play balance with BJP.They never care to launch a movement with other parties on price rise, unemploment problem, development of rural areas including tribal areas. Most of the Bengal leaders are very mediocar and do not have much contacts with peasants and workers.People around Calcutta become the leaders which bring the greatest disaster. There was no improvement on southern districts of west bengal. Both Biman Bose & Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee have spoiled the running of a communist party.Gautem Debs utterences seems to me a paid joker, not a communist .Party must prove all the utterences he made before the election. Most Buddhijibi of Calcutta are shameless createre.Except few all received doles from the government and become the sole mouth pice of education, cultural, development policy of the WB Governement.Party grow up with the scrifice of great many comrades around west bengal.Open criticizem of present party leadership is absolutely necessary. They cannot blame Prakash Karat. It was the failure of the entire central party and specially the inept party leadership of West Bengal.

What is the problem with CPI(M) today
by Kumropotash on May 18, 2011 11:02 AM

>> Arrogance - We are 260 they are X
>> Read Sain Bari incident - Members like Nirupam Sen, Binoy Konar, Anil Bosu etc still exists with hands smeared with innocent blood. Anil Bosu is not his real name.
>> Do not listen to "sariks" like RSP, FB, etc
>> The Karats are impotent sex partners - so if they do not garner and cater family of their
own - how can they meet the common mass???
>> 34 Years - yes 34 years only work is to
penetrate at family level to spread the RED
color - no infrastructure, no industry etc - Poor Buddha was left with the burden of these.
>> Do not have any control at mid level - thus
violence
>> CPM thinks that any one against is not an
opponent rather ENEMEY. This is one of the
worst idelogies from time of Lenin. So get rid
