Do we have two different Law's in this country
by Joseph Saldanha on Mar 01, 2011 10:04 PM  | Hide replies

Dara Singh killed Graham Staines and his two minor sons by setting fire to the vehicle in which they were sleeping, but the Supreme Court on Friday ruled that it was not a "rarest of rare" category crime to warrant death penalty for him.
11 people convicted to death sentence for burning 59 people calling it "rarest of rare".
These 11 people are all Muslims.
Do we have different rules for minorities?
Is India a BANANA REPUBLIC?

DARA singh case was not rarest of rare as court took into consideration the circumstances leading to his murder. The court noticed the Graham Staines was involved in illegal and immoral activities of child abuse and sexual exploitation of tribal women and also abusing Hindu religious values. This was not a case where a innocent person was just sleeping and dara singh went and burned him.

Minorities do not get reservation in India? Wow! When did that happen? Or are you complaining because you scored passing marks and didn't get admission into Nuclear Science?

list the minorities which get reservation in India?

People entitled for reservation are SC, ST. Known of this has minorities - Christians, Muslims in them. To refresh your memory, the sections which are provided reservation were the caste in Hindusim which were suppressed by upper castes for centuries. To undo that reservation was introduced.

Also read in first draft for Indian representation in 1919, SC and ST along with minorities did not wanted to be part of India. SC, ST headed by Dr Ambedkar. Ambedkar was apeased by promise of reservation and he had accepted to be part of Indian indepence movement.

Minorities also have reservations like special quotas in schools. Just two days back the MinoritiesCommission has decided that AMU can reserve 50% seats forMuslims. There are reservations for jobs also in some states like Kerala, TN, WB, etc

Dr.Ambedkar was a visionary. So he did not convrt to some alienReligion.

@Rakesh: is AMU state run univsersity or private and autonomous university - also there is big difference between can reserve and is reserved. Lets talk about state university - Banaras Hindu University, even though BHU government university why is admission there given based on religion? How about Sindhi colleges in Mumbai where Sindhi's have 25 % quota? How about Jain insitute in Mumbai where Muslims as well as Christians are not allowed admission?

reservations in India are for minorities - you kidding? go and look which categories in India are reserved.

Death penalty for crimes like procuring petrol and being outside watcher! wow, shows how the justice was provided.

This was an opportunity for Gujarat's legal system to come out clean, but did same.

Agree with Joesph comment, where Dara Singh burnt missionary and their sons alive and for him life sentence and for mob for which there is no surity still that who killed whom and whether it was accident or conspiracy and awarded death and life sentences!!!
