humiliation of gandhian values
by haribansh singh on Jun 08, 2011 09:01 AM

Mr Navneet Anand is a paid journilist -with little understanding of gandhian values and shows his foolishness by justifying violent means to evict fasting protestors at midnight by remote controlled PM of this great nation. Why is reffmail providing platform to such journilists?

If police had opened fire and killed them all, it would have served democracy even better.

If massive looting happened, there are probes going on that. You can't use that as an excuse to destabilize an elected govt.

The Govt. has already a list of 48 offenders. Out of which they have published a partial list of those who are not politicians. What prevents them to publish the complete list? Does it need a probe? May be as per 'loyalists' like you.

What makes you think the Govt will get destabilised if it is not at fault?

The fact that you Congressi guys are accepting the fact that the Govt would get destabilised due to the movements is a testimony to your wrong doings and corruption.

The author is a fool
by Dipak Bose on Jun 08, 2011 06:06 AM

"do not coat your vested interest with an ideology"

It was done by both Gandhi and Nehru. Gandhi was a pro-British; he was imported into India by Sir.Gokhle, a very pro-British within Congress to expell the militants from the Congress. Gandhi pretended to be a freedom fighter but he has started Khilafat movement to restore the Sultan of Turkey. Almost all the leaders of the Congress went out.

Nehru pretemded to be a Socualist but implemented a Fascist plan, created large monopoly houses of Bilra-Tata-Goenka-Bajaj-Thaper through license-permit-quota Raj.

"do not take the pretence of 'satyagraha' to meet overt political and economic gains"

This is exactly what Gandhi did always.

"do not blackmail and challenge constitutional and democratic institutions at your whims and fancy."

This is exactly what Gandhi did.

I bet the author would have justified the British Lathicharge
by Gaurav Goyal on Jun 08, 2011 03:43 AM

The author seems to be a descendant of one of the Indian policemen who fired at Jalianwala Bagh or charged Lala Lajpat Rai with lathis.

He is okay with autocracy, but not with the right of the citizens to protest peacefully. He sees a non-existent commercial aspect to the activisism, but not the open loot of peoples money by the mercenaries occupying seats of power.

He gloats over the unprovoked attack in which women and children were dragged and beaten mercilessly. These hidden demons and shaitans ought to be eradicated from our country.

Nobody cares about what you think since nobody knows who the hell you are. Your credibility after this article is zero, and you have shown yourself to be another puppet of the ruling class masquerading as a journalist.

Who is to blame to for this sorry state of affairs
by Indian on Jun 08, 2011 01:39 AM

Author's viewpoint is that Government has shown its wit in tackling sort of blackmailish tactics adopted by Activists. However my question is why the government is not showing same vigor when dealing with the menance of corruption. We are witnessing allegations of corruption and loot of Public money with the frequency and magnitude as never seen before in history of Independent India. Knowing the vested interest politicians have, citizens of this country DO NOT believe that they will build any effective mechanism which will put their vested interest under scanner.

It is in inactivity of unwillingness of the political class that has brought us to today’s sorry state of affairs.

I think this is exactly where author is missing the pulse of the common people of this country. They are no longer ready to wait or believe in their governments to act upon. So there are no other measures left in democracy but to agitate and force government to have public participation. Other options were worst. Let us not forget the turmoil various gulf countries are going through.

However the tone of this article itself is against any such effort to have participation of anybody apart from elected representatives. It seems editor wants to ignore the fact that the “elected representatives” comprising of different political parties/spectrum has failed to deliver any independent and effective mechanism to curb the corruption for so many years.

Oh Really?
by Dhruba Chakravarti on Jun 07, 2011 11:18 PM

So, it has served democracy? Democracy is served by waking up sleeping people and beating them up? To the extent that one lady is paralyzed? I do not need such democracy. Mr. Anand, go live in South Asia, where your style of democracy is the norm. We want our style of democracy.

SHAN BAID
RD is naive
by SHAN BAID on Jun 07, 2011 08:20 PM

Ramdev's domain lies in gathering n convincing a masses and that he should confine to it. His attempt to mobilise them for a reform has failed basically due to lack of his leadership to play this role. The way he lost nerves for uncalled reasons, panicked n resorted to acts unmatching with the bold rhetoric n unaspiring sainthood he was expected of,he should confine himself unto that. This is the lesson for all those who directly enter into unknown arena without having guts to face the situations which could arise. Anna would never face such situation bcoz he has been in this 'business' for long n knows the rules of the game well.
Another 'companion' has also finally come out after 3 days oblivion who claim to do n die.
However I m ardent supporter of the cause and the method of non-violence,all-inclusive adopted by these good people. The govt act is highly condemnable.
