Uncle Pai deserves more respect and recognition....

"May your soul rest in peace"

I had written a story in Tinkle way back in 1987... Uncle Pai had personally sent me hand written letters to me twice. That was the kind of personal touch he had with kids. He was very encouraging and inspired me to be more creative in life. I got my first income from Uncle Pai....he had sent me Rs.30 for my story they published. I used to wonder...Uncle Pai must be a very very busy person...yet he makes it a point to write personal letters to all the children who communicated with Tinkle. He was a selfless person and was never interested in making money but was genuinely doing a great service to the Indian society. I cant believe that people like him never got a Padmashree and useless actors get them...coz their PR company lobby it for them to promote the image.

I was also really surprised when my story was republished many times....I was also surprised to see my story published again two years back...that's almost 20 yrs. The concept and vision he had was too good. The design of Tinkle was very good. He made tinkle so informative with science, culture, history, biography and geography....every story had a moral and was very interesting. Tinkle had a wide range of funny and interesting comic characters. Children all over India were connected in a way in a generation where there were no internet and no easy access to knowledge. He is a true Gem of India.

I feel his contribution is remarkable. He deserves much more r

condolences

I grew up on amar chitra katha. Thanks to Uncle Pai my knwoledge on mythology is commendable. It was fascinating to see how he brought in details of the story in a simple comic pattern. Today's tech savvy kids need to get copies of comics like ack, tinkle, asterix etc to get a taste of the real thrill of growing up. My heartfelt condolences to Uncle Pai. May he rest in peace.

The best uncle
by kamathvik@rediffmail.com on Feb 25, 2011 11:34 PM

I attribute a lot of what I am today to Uncle Pai thanks to his fantastic mission of spreading knowledge through entertainment in the form of Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle.
I've won several quiz competitions in school and would thank Uncle Pai for it for getting me interested in reading from a young age.

This truly is a big loss and though I've never met the great man, I am very saddened.

Long live the legacy of Uncle Pai.

YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS TO NDIAN CULTURE ARE PRICELESS SIR.....
by BHARATIYAN on Feb 25, 2011 11:32 PM

Without people like u sir the Majority would never have been knowledgeable abt our GRT history and our Hindu culture. If Congiis had their way they would have said Mughals were the most secular of the Kings India ever had.
JNU is the agency who is doing Congii and Leftist work of distorting Indian history...All the Indian history books from JNU are a pack of lies where only Congii leaders are praised and allocated pages while grt men like Bose WHO SPEND HIS WHOLE LIFE FIGHTING the British where given only Paragraphs mention just because his ideology was different to Gandhi.Shame on Congress/JNU...........In order to push Sickularism down the throat of Majority they Sickularised Indian History...........Where there is no mention of the atrocities committed against the Majority by the Minority starting from the reign of Mughals........Shame on these Vermins who are teaching the children false history.

It is upto to us UPRIGHT Indians to erect a memorial for him.
by Vishnu Sharma on Feb 25, 2011 11:30 PM  | Hide replies

The memorial with its manicured lawns and flowerbeds should be in the form of a Large Upright Slightly open Book, opened at an angle of 30 degrees, made of Granite, with the Amar Chitra katha logo etched on it. The 40 foot tall book building should rest on an island in the middle of a pond full of lotuses.

There should be an eternal flame in front of the book and one should be able to walk into the Book building into a chamber where his life history and photos and objects used by him like his spectacles etc. should be displayed.

There should also be a planetarium on the premises and a movie theater which will show animated versions of various Amar Chitra Kathas to children on the Big screen so that any kid can come in take a seat and complete hearing and watching a whole comic visually and aurally.

Every day, three shows should show three comics for children who will throng the place.

We need a 500 acres to be set aside for this memorial for Uncle Pai.

There should also be a statue of Uncle Pai sitting on a bench. Any kid should be able to sit next to him or on his lap and have a photograph taken.

The Marxists and Congress in India have revealed their true colors by not expressing even a word of condolence on his passing.

They shamelessly stand exposed as the worst enemies of the Indian nation and its culture and heritage.

You said it my Friend.....Congress/Leftist are a curse on this country that have even silenced patriots like Bose who had laid their entire life in service of the country.JNU is doing the dirty work of Congrass and Leftist by producing historical books where only Gandhi/Nehru are the grt leaders and pages are spend on them while paragraphs were spend on grt patriots like Bose/Bhagat Singh etc juust because their ideology was different to the Gandhi/Nehru dynasty.
