Govt Sponsored Article
by Chandra Sekher on Aug 29, 2011 06:49 PM  | Hide replies

Looks like a Govt sponsored article to defame him and counter him from moving with an other agitation. People have supported Anna because of his agenda. Only after seeing his agenda, they supported him. People of this country can think what is good and bad for them and no matter who wants to agitate if the cause is not good, nobody will join him. I suggest the author to stop unwanted research on his practices and instead do something good for the society. I wonder if the author participated in the IAC agitation.

Many factual defects in this story
by Devdutt Nayak on Aug 29, 2011 06:48 PM  | Hide replies

1. Not stated whether or not there is voice vote in town meetings to decide these punishments like flogging for drinking, removing Cable TV, etc.

2. Not mentioned whether people in the village are happy or not. Even Indian democracy is pseudo-majority-Raj, the rest have to accept.

3. Ram is not a Brahminical icon. That's proper bullsh_t. Ram is an all-welcoming Khsatriya Hindu God, he was not Brahmin himself.

4. Belief in God's hidden ways is not only not Brahminical, it is more of the lower castes of Hinduism - the Warkaris and the Bhakti Panthis are the best examples.
The Brahminical way is to master Vedas and Puranas and do meditation and worship and Tapasya. Even today it is accepted as so.
Sharma should talk to about 100 normal Hindus before calling this Brahminical.

4. Effectively Sharma is arguing for freedom to pursue vices like vulgarity and liquor

5. Eating non-veg is a freedom for Sharma. Well, slaughter of innocent feeling animals, in the name of freedom is not as noble as it sounds when it is called "freedom"

While I fully support freedom of humans to do all this, and whatever else, I also equally support freedom of all those poor animals to live without fear of humans. Animals also form part of the nation, alongwith plants.
Eating a goat and a chicken while not eating a dog or a cat is clearly discrimination based o your taste-buds and "sensibilites".

6. Absence of elections is bad if there is no way to speak out your opinion. If there is freedom of speech and it is considered in a Gram Sabha then representative democracy is not needed because a superior all-referendum system is in place. This is BETTER not worse.
To decide, enough facts are needed which are not given.
Otherwise yes, this is a valid objection against Anna Hazare, he is exposed as being hypocritical.

The Dalit who is not able to raise his voice, is his version honest, is it just one man, or are there many? If Anna cared for them and brought them to the stage they are and then wants them to not get ambitious it is more egalitarian than anti-democratic a bit like Cuba or earlier USSR in terms of absence of encouragement to private enterprise.

7. It is indeed a necessity for a settlement of humans to have a few cobblers, a few blacksmiths, a few tailors, a few doctors, a few midwifes, a few soldiers and so on.

Who decides who gets which job is what matters.

If a cobbler's son decides to become a tailor or a soldier or a Brahmin, then he should be encouraged to do so.

That is a positive democracy.

It is also definitely good if everyone knows two of these trades instead of just one. Today, our democratic and economic system forces us to study two disciplines.
This is a good thing that Anna must take back to Ralegan Siddhi.

8. The Gita, where castes are redefined for the modern day by Krishna, says that caste is based on skill and occupation, NOT BY BIRTH.

This is being done well by Entrance tests in our democratic system except that Reservation has hijacked the fairness of the tests in unethical favour of SC ST.

This is the Supreme Court's view based on interpretation of the laws made by MPs, so we have to live with it.

Ironically, this very reservation thing may change due to Anna Hazare's reform and suddenly you might find more seats and more openings in Govt offices.

Will this hurt Dalits?
Well, has Reservation helped Dalits?
A 60 year-long failed experiment cannot be blamed on Anna.
If Dalit MPs and Dalit Ministers cannot uplift Dalits for 60 years, then how do we help them through this Dalit-special system?

This is a far deeper problem. They've actually got inferior genes by centuries of being sidelined.
Is Anna to blame for removal of a non-functioning falsely pro-Dalit system?

9. Rest assured that Anna's success, to whatever level, will NEVER threaten our constitution as much as the present political class has abused it.

Does anyone here really imagine that Anna will usurp Indian democracy and institute a fascist dictatorship?

Is this not going on record as being a total idiot or a paid shill?

Are Dalit MPs paying the author so that they can continue to exploit their Dalit brethren?

Devdutt Nayak, no way would you call someone who dilligently writes such a piece a "total
idiot". So the other part of question remains, "a paid shill". Well, how much Rediff must have paid for this piece?

>>>>India got 82% of hindus still living in India after 1000 years of Muslim rulers>>> first of all theMuslims never ruled India for 1000 years. Secondly you are talking about present day India where the IslamicInvaders failed to convrt majority of the natives into theirReligion. Why don't you talk about present day Pakistan and Bengladesha also? How many HindusBuddhistsAndChristians are left in those places now? 98% of present day Pak population areMuslims.

Who is resposible if you guys cannot get rid of theCasteSystem even hundreds of years after convrsion?

Yes,AtheistsAndCommunists Are Secularists but do you tolerate theAtheists/Communists also? More than ten lakhCommunists were butchered in Indonesia, with the active connivance of CIA in 1966. NajihullahWas hanged from aStreetlightPole and his supporters were butchered in broad daylight.

Is there anyCommunistMovement in anyMuslimMajoirtyCountries?

And of course we have special consideration for theDalitsAnd otherLowerCastes. The lateEMS who strived his whole life for the upliftment of the downtrodden class belonged to the highestClass ofBrahmins. So also the late AKG, KrishnaPillai, E.K.Nayanar, etc were alsoUpperCasteHindus. We do not have any ulteriorMotives likeConversions when weHelp others.

right ... how an OBC was able to follow Gandhiian principles and fasted for 13 days, in which millions of Indians awoke from their slumber and gave the corrupt of this country a thorough shakedown.
It is a case study now in the IIMs... if you are educated, that is.

300 MCDs did what the Government is paying their salary for.
5 JCBs did what they would have done for any other party.
Crane mounted cameras were looking for TRP ratings.
45 ambulances were there to save lives in case terrorists from across border planted bomb. Then your govt would have collapsed.
36 doctors were there so you can't blame 1 doctor if something unfortunate happened to Anna.
Delhi govt gave cars, so people can forget CWG.
Delhi govt did not give any food. It was organised by volunteers.
Water was organised by volunteers.
Toilet is the Government's basic job, even that they could only provide 3 for a crowd of 40,000.
This is called Congy disinformation campaign.

How much is Madam ji's hospitalisation bill? Who is paying it?

That is called *&^%ing the Indian public.
