Dont let the flame of patriotism die
by geethy omana on Aug 26, 2011 09:43 PM

For the past few days, Congress leaders, MMS, Rahul,Chiddu, Kapil Sibal, Arundhati Roy, Aruna Roy, a few writers on Rediff, have been fighting against corruption bill with so much respect for parliament and democracy. I wish to congratulate most of the bloggers in rediff for trusting Annas movement and supporting it. Only a few people could understand the essence of these movement.Others are still wandering around watching whether Anna is having food, whether he took bribe etc. Please divert your energy to make one remark against corruption. A man is giving up his life for a bill which is for us. By the time bill is implemented, Anna will be no more.(dont u feel this fast has already damaged his kidneys-see his puffy face). If the govt implements a better lokpal, the people who are going to benefit is us.The 'parliament democracy' advocates had enough time 42yrs, 8 standing committee meetings discussing the bill. So now we are in a stage where all parliamentary formalities have been followed. What we need is to pressurise parliament to pass the bill within a deadline.Fasting is like blackmailing but after losing all other peaceful tactics, waiting for so long, what else we can do? Dialogue for next 50yrs? Then imagine the headlines for 2050 - Raja's son Mr.Maharaja refuses to resign over 10G scam wherein he is accused for corruption of 1000000000000000000crores.

Krishan Mehra retired as a brigadier from the Indian Army
by Sanjay Das on Aug 26, 2011 09:03 PM  | Hide replies

Excellent analysis. Do you see a trend on writers on this topic. See their profession, if he is associated with a noble profession like armed forces, professors, common man, and those social activist who are not on anyone payroll tend to write something logical. But most of rediff's writer, you can sense they are either playing party line, or parroting a message to dicredit the efforts. I think with all defects, the bill should pass, as is NOW, and than we can discuss it to amend. This is what happens in USA or other democratic country. If not now, never again! Revolt, throw these corrupt politcians, and special lobbyist and their hired writers, the so called intellectuals. We cannot wait any long. Let's DO IT NOW! Now or Never!

Rahul, ArmdForces are meant for fighting external enemies and they are taught to be ruthless when dealing with them. That is precisely we do not use our ArmedForces to deal with the Naxal/MaoistProblem in our Country.

And that is precisely why army people should not talk about internal things like corruption and democracy. They are supposed to protect us from external enemies with all the love for nation's people(and we love them for the same), but not supposed to tell US what to do for internal problems.

He is a retired Army personal, so he is now a civilian and has all the civilian rights.

Talking about Army is meaningless here.

they haven't done so. but the way they are supporting(one in-service army officer also expressed his support) is dangerous for coming future. and Im not talking simply about army, im talking about how the army shapes ones thinking process which is good within army but not in civil society.

The latest Mad and doggy of corrupt congys is on the board by name Rahul!!!!
At least with little bit basic knowledge if he comments, then there is a meaning.
All postings are biased and posted without using brain.
Paid barking dogs special slogans are-confuse the people, divide the people, deviate the people, demoralise the people.
Shame on these maroons.
This is the reflection of their bosses, see their divisive working style:
In General Elections, they use to field the candidates of same name, same cast to confuse the voters.
In the same manner, they have floated two other Lokpal Bills viz.Aruna Roy Bill and Jayaprakash Bill in order to confuse the general public and misguide them.
This is dirty politics only.

Military needs education
by Rahul B on Aug 26, 2011 08:57 PM  | Hide replies

It is high time that the military is given some basic education about democracy. It seems they are taking lessons from Pakistan and looking for their chance to grab the nation for a ride. Hitler was in army, Anna was in army, this guy has been from army, these army guys have no respect for democracy as their whole life goes in either receiving orders or giving them. Shirome has already unmasked the army in north east. If you have problems with electoral process do a protest against it, why wear this mask of 'anti-corruption' to bring our beloved dictatorship, like hitler used mask of 'national pride' to convince people. Wonder why rediff sometimes picks up such illiterates to write on their website who have no credentials or knowledge to talk on such complex issues and only express the mob mentality just to please few readers?

I actually wish having smone other than this dynastic congress and communal bjp in the center. electoral reforms should be such that participation in politics becomes easier and safer.

Who has told that Military is trying to take the authority to rule India????
All dirty presumptions are not valid proofs to blame one important and respectful Branch of this Indian Society. on Indian Military people have undoubted respect and faith.
Since last 64 years, not even a single action of military has made indians suspecious about them.

Rahul, You are yourself agreeing that there is no one other than dynasty or bjp at the center. Your wish will only come true if this movement fructifies. Then these guys become accountable to an extent. However, real reform would having no party system and people should be elected on independent basis. Their campaign should be organised by state funding but would only involve them giving their ideas to improve the lives of people by debating on TV or some other forum. PM to be elected by national voting and he chooses his team from these representatives.
Your looking down the Army seems disgraceful. These guys serve the nation even giving up their life for people and we are not even respectful to them. They are also the citizens of the country and have democratic rights like all others.

Raj is aChamcha of Con-party;Raj was propped up by theCon-party like his Unlce, the original BalasahebThakeary was propped up by them in the 1960s to break the CommunistParties in Maharashtra. The then CM of Maharashtra, Mr.VasantraoNaik was the Chief guest at the inaguration of the original ShivSena and Mr.RajniPatel was their GodFather.

So go and ask your AmulBaby what his govt was doing at that time.

I know congress did this, and to add to that it wasn't just the communist party but also the dalit pather in maharashtra that was targeted. But that is how politicians have been evil. How does that gives an excuse for Anna joining hands with Raj? I am saying this in spite of being Maharashtrian. I hate congress as much as I hate Shiv Sena, BJP and Raj. Today you say congress did this hence its fine if Anna did that. Tomorrow you will say congress did corruption so whats wrong if Anna or some of his team mates also do corruption once they get power. Two wrongs dont make one right.

The take the ruling party to task for their failure instead of talking about irrelevant things.

When theCongress party could unleash armed securitymen to remove peacefully sleeping citizens, including WomenAndChildren at the dead ofNight at RamleelaMaidan, why they did not show the same alacrity in dealing with GoonsOfRaj?

Weight of Truth will be on heads of those inebriated in power
by Sandeep on Aug 26, 2011 08:53 PM  | Hide replies

What has the govt. shown so far ? Delaying anti corruption measures and denial of corruption.

Those who are advocating democratic procedures should see what draft this democratic govt. has brought.
Those who complain against corrupt people will go to jail for 2 years if complaint is false. Those who are found corrupt will
go to jail for maximum 6 months.

If the system is not functioning it needs to be repaired. The system cannot hold the country hostage.
If the system becomes useless or is made useless, then it has to be discarded. The system is for the country and country is not
for the system. Annaji is not saying that the Lokpal is to be a law because he has declared it. Annaji is saying let the parliament
approve it.

After all even the parliament has been amended several times. Even Dr. Ambedkar has said that the constitution needs to be reformed every 25 to 30 years. Where are those reforms? Those who are crying for maintaining the supremacy of parliament want to keep the
status quo, but it is going to be very difficult henceforth.

Your figures are reversed, false complaint caused MAXIMUM 2 years jail and corruption causes MINIMUM 6 months jail. And for constitution, there have been 100s of amendments, if don't know its your ignorance. Don't need to say anything about your ignorant views.
