Unpleasant truth, what? You don't want to accept it, because it's not convenient for your own beliefs. Be original, man, think. You don't need miracle-performing babas to make this world happier.

ya ultimately he was a human being.....

we are a country of blind faiths! I respect Sathya Sai Baba only for his good work for mankind....he has done something and shown unlike other gurus who do nothing and just watch beautiful women and are lost in their own worlds..they enjoy all good things of life and preach others what to do and what not to do..

Fake beliefs
by Seshagiri Raghukumar on Apr 30, 2011 08:54 PM

I am not judging Sri Sathya Sai Baba. But it is extremely unfortunate that one propagates such beliefs that feed on the idiocy, superstition, gullibility and lack of education of people. India will be liberated and truly spiritual the moment it gets out of such beliefs, which are just convenient, but not the real solutions, either to be happy in this world, or attain Moksha.

Sai Baba - Things to Learn
by Al Ringer on Apr 30, 2011 08:52 PM  | Hide replies

Yes, I have poked fun at SaiBaba and tried my crude sense of humor at his misery and death. But I introspected my thoughts and actions, and realized that I have not been fair to this man.

We all have our ideas of Spirituality and sense of what is right and what is wrong, similarly our own sense of what is good and what is bad, etc. SaiBaba may not fit everyone's personal Spiritual definition.

However we need to recognize and be grateful to him for the social service he has done over the years in India. Apart from building Sai Centers in 136 countries for his devotees to gather, SaiBaba has adopted a backward district and an obscure town within it to make it his hometown. He built Hospitals, Schools, Colleges, Parks, Roads, Wedding Halls, Water distribution systems, etc. etc. This is highly commendable. This is exactly what India needs and are lacking in sufficient numbers.

In the time of many scams and corruption stories, SaiBaba's story is like a breath of fresh air.

There are 1000s of Babas in India, very few will match with the level of social service SaiBaba demonstrated. Something for other Babas to learn. If each one adopts a town and invest their funds, we will have 1000s of great towns in India.

I sincerely applaud SaiBaba for this work to make India a better place

I agree that he has done a lot of good things. However, we should debate is our disregard for "absolute morality" and "accept contextual morality" all the time the right thing to do. Hitler was not forgiven for his deeds even though he rebuilt Germany from rubbles. On the other hand Modi is forgiven (or will be forgiven) because of the developmental works in Gujarat. We Indians always have this tendency that is easily misused by many. Do good things and everything you do will be forgiven. I am not saying it is wrong - but should be debated.

I am not familiar with SaiBaba's Spirituality and his methods.

I am only looking at his work that affects people. He did a good job above and beyond what you can see other Babas have been able to accomplish.

Sorry, but I disagree with you to even put SaiBaba in the camp of Hitler and Modi. There is no moral equivalency whatsoever.

If your analysis is limited to Harm caused versus Good achieved, SaiBaba will be a Saint.

I agree with you. He did a lot of good for humanity. His hospitals provide free medical care for people of all religions. One could see people from all religions, Hindus or Muslims or Christians or Sikhs at the many Sai hospitals, medical care was free of cost. Scores came out feeling a new life and relived of being rid of their medical problems and also spared from expensive medical financial costs. His water programmes benefited scores in Anantapur and many nearby districts as well as Chennai. Likewise, scores of bright kids from poor families benefited in the many schools he established.
