Realising the self, aham brahmasmi... that is only scratching the surface mate. Believe me, there is a lot to go before you can hold a debate with me on Hinduism.
And you know the reason? You won't believe it. hahaha.
HinduismIs NOT aReligion in its narrow sense. It is a conglomeration of variousBeliefs and even non-belief(Atheism). There are no similarities between theBeliefs of the AdivasisOfHighRanges ofIdukki and aPalghatBrahmin....or thousands of other groups spread across theCountry. They all are bound by one invisible thread.........the culture&civilization that goes back to more than 5000 years.

Why my reply was deleted?
Can't write it all again now. Basically, Hinduism has a single thread, from which there are offshoots. Ask the two group about Krishna, both will say they believe.
There is no need for Retire age in Politics, but there should be Entry Age bar of 40 Years to keep the "Amul Babies" serve the "Aam Admi" until such age rather than day dreaming of becoming of PM as their Birth Right.
In these difficult times we are told that we should go to the temple, that we should get in touch with God. We do not need the temple. We do not need to get in touch with "God." We need to get in touch with each other.319
On the basis of biological, sociological, and historical knowledge, we should recognize that the individual self is subject to death and decay, but the sum total of individual achievement, for better or for worse, lives on in the immortality of the Larger Self; that to live for the sake of the species and posterity is religion of the highest kind; and that those religions which seek a future life either in Heaven or in the Pure Land, are selfish religions.

we have the first religion and the first one to even reject the religion in the world!!!!! hahahahahahahahahahaha
if u r not aware of hinduism, ask some expert like me!!!!! hinduism allows both personal god (sadgunaBrahman) as well impersonal god (nirgunaBrahman) for which no worship is needed at all!!!
Re: @giveanid - personal god inHinduism!!!
by giveanid on Apr 12, 2011 04:38 PM
Patriot, you will never beat me on a debate on Hinduism!
First, what do you mean by allowing an impersonal God? The advaitha sidhantha which I mentioned earlier is the crux of this concept. Even then, the power is supposed to be all powerful and with a 'mind'.
That again is different from the core advaitha sidhantha, where cause and effect are inseparable.
Re: Re: @giveanid - personal god inHinduism!!!
by The Patriot on Apr 12, 2011 04:40 PM
idiot, do u even know what is advaita siddhanta?? the day u realise u r urself god, thats the day of moksha, also meaning becoming one with the parabrahman!!!!
thats not a personal god but that person himself is god!!!!
Re: Re: Re: @giveanid - personal god inHinduism!!!
by giveanid on Apr 12, 2011 04:46 PM
hahaha That is the simplistic, Wikipedia kind of definition. That is why I told you before, you won't understand if I go deep in there. Advaitha sidhantha's core is the relation between cause and effect. Karya-karana relation. Go read some real books, give wiki a break!
To be thoroughly religious, one must, I believe, be sorely disappointed. One's faith in God increases as one's faith in the world decreases. The happier the man, the farther he is from God.

Not true. Many unhappy people find happiness in God. So, no matter true or false, the concept is healing.

and what happened to ur loud mouth claims of: "for every atheist scientist, there 10 theist scientists"!!!!!!
Re: Re: @giveanid
by giveanid on Apr 12, 2011 04:25 PM
The study you are quoting is from the US, surveying the 'scientists' working in US universities. Is that your standard? If you take that survey in India, you will find the total opposite.
And my claim, I still stand by that. I didn't go on because you changed your criteria to be of 20/21 century scientists.

theHinduism also permits atheism!!!!! thats the reason u dont find much of a difference between aDevoutly religiousHindu and an irreligiousHindu.....they are not classified into 2 compartments of heavenAndHell like in ur desert death cults!!!!
Re: Re: Re: Re: @giveanid

What do you mean by 'permits'? Hinduism believes in a personal God. The religion is defined by that. There is no papering it by saying 'permits'.

giveanid, even if 99.9999999% of Scientists believe in someGod, I am not going toBelive. More than 15% of the world'sPopulation are nowAtheists who do NOT beliveInAnyGod.

You are the best example of what I told Patriot in this post, and to you in the post below. No one is going to change their opinion based on what 60% scientists said, or what majority of the population believes. Matter of fact, it is waste of time debating God.

My God does not. Well, in every religion, it has happened though, including Hinduism.

I don't pity on them. I don't pity anyone for their or non-belief in God. Where did you get that from?
You can argue till dawn about the existence of God, and no one is going to change. Anyone who has not done that in teenage is abnormal!
Re: Re: Re: @giveanid

Yes, that is making fun of the belief that 'atheism is rationalism'. That superiority complex is stupid. And that is exactly what I said in a milder language in this post. Get it?

In Hinduism, if you die in battle, you will go to heaven, called veeraswargam. That one?
