We don't want nuclear if the terms are not agreeable

Nicholas wants to make a mockery of india? India has suffered Bhopal and it's chief was american and indians saw how he was escorted out of india and he continues to live a healthy life back in US after killing 25000 people in India. India therefore knows how responsible private companies can be without a proper contract. India should not budge on this issue. The liability of the nuclear accident has to be on private suppliers of equipment and it has to be around 1.5 - 2 billion US dollars.

Like this Saifu Soz. who went against his party boss and voted for congress while being with NDA coalition. He is from Kashmir, he can do business here, buy property here and even topple a govt. in Delhi, but Nehru,Vajpeyee or Dr.Singh the PMs of India are "guests" in Kashmir...

We hate babu's in india... because babu's have been single handedly responsible for india going down the drain. So why don't you take a walk mister.

All western countries are now getting rid of nuclear energy because there is no way that nuclear waste can be ecologically isolated!!! It is a dangerous way of getting energy even more than coal!! Nobody has forgotten chernobyl disaster and bhopal tragedy. We don't want nuclear power.

There was a declaration in May 2005. Immediately US passed a LAW, Hyde act by which India has to follow all rules enacted by US which is the enabling act for the 123 agreement. How dare a nation which follows democracy can pass a LAW insisting another SOVEREIGN STATE to follow the said LAW? Where from Mr.Burns get the courage to threaten a SOVEREIGN STATE which demand just something that the US law allowed for any disaster? How can Mr.Burns challenge a LAW passed by the Parliament (similar to the US senate)? Senate is the SUPREME DECISION MAKING BODY. In India Parliament is the highest decision making body. The Hyde Act passed by US was just a document to subdue a sovereign state. You may know that any agreement signed against natural justice will find its due place in the future. If not today, tomorrow it will have to be burned. Arguments for the suppliers is his duty. Will you consider the plight of millions who may be the unfortunate victims in case of an unpredictable disaster?
Long term price of Uranium is $500/- now.
Which banks will finance these projects which did not ensure trouble free fuel supply?
Do you (US) have a proven technology for the disposal of nuclear waste.

This says a lot about what this Burns thinks of India and Indians. The US is looking for an india that will act as a vassal and not a partner. The deal was signed in 2005 - then the Americans started asking for one concession after the other. Don't they understand - when you sign a deal you have a deal - not maybe. They thinks India is there to be manipulated for their benefit. They should go to hell.

y just bend to USA
by mohammed arif on Oct 21, 2010 06:41 PM  | Hide replies

china, pak dont bend.
neither does russia. Y cant india just have private sector participation in supply chain management for the fuel, rather than bending towards US.
its just another way of US to controll ASIAN countries becoming self sufficient with self supply chain management.

This is nothing but arm twisting by US. Indian parliament, just like US congress is at the top, and needs to be respected..With the horrors of Bhopal and the response by US courts, govt and the uniion carbide still fresh, the stand taken by Indian parliament is laudable.
also, when Pak can get all it wants on nuclear reactors without any treaty, why India can't ???
