American hypocrisy
by R Ganesh on Oct 21, 2010 11:38 AM

The Americans are known hypocrites.

On one side they give money and free arms to Porkis which will be invariably used against India
On other side they want to earn money by selling Arms, Nuclear Reactors to India

When the oil leak from the Gulf of mexico inundated the US Coast they literally strangled BP to pay 2Billion USD in specially created funds
But to protect their companies which are likely to sell nuclear reactor they want to cap the liability to 1 Million USD.

The people should rise up unitedly if the Indian Government tries to modify the nuclear liability bill.

How 1 Parliament action can kill Indo-US nuke deal
by sathyam guda on Oct 21, 2010 11:37 AM

Historic Indo-US nuclear deal is in reality is not a historic one as far as Indian Parliament is considered. It was passed by arm twisting of MPs and by exchange of money bags and by turn coat MPs. It was more for a personal glory that is some legacy for MMS, the PM. If rumors are acceptable, even President of AICC/UPA Chair Person was not in favour of this nuclear bill/deal. Money bags were physically brought into In parliament. Then other side is that Nuclear power is not safe in the sense that even if accident occurs once in a century it will wipe out lakhs of people (Union carbide tragedy which is non nuclear tragedy is just a scratch if compared to potential danger of nuclear disaster). Thus (1) It was foolish on the part of MMS government in the first place to sign the N.Deal knowing fully well that support in parliament was not enough even to a reasonable extent (razor edge majority shall not be the rational for such an important deal. Experts may prove the lack of clear majority was on political grounds and not on safety or utility grounds of the N.Deal) 2. Other foolishness is that one more bill that is N.Liability bill also is needed for N.Deal to complete for which also he (PM,MMS) has no majority in parliament and MMS was short sighted in hurrying the first bill without foreseeing this requirement. This kind of strategically important bills should have spontaneous support and not manufactured support.

Whenever US wants should we crawl ?
by Rajesh Pandey on Oct 21, 2010 11:35 AM

WTO was thrurst on the developing countries in 90's when they were ignorant of the consequences of such a binding Agreement. Thereafter, the developing countries woke up, became wiser with experience and have resorted to hard bargaining to safeguard their interests. Hence the Doha Round is not progressing, as the developed countries never wanted to give any concession.

Similarly, when the Indo-US Nuclear Deal was signed, Indians hardly understood the implications, or were silenced. Now when the wishes of the Indian masses, as reflected in the tough Bill passed by Indian Parliament this year, are known to US, India is being threatened.

When will the US realise that the 21st century belongs to Asia ?

The Indo US agreement vote in Parliament
by anuj agarwal on Oct 21, 2010 11:33 AM

Everyone remembers that this accord was not liked by the parliament a.k.a. by the people of this country and the MPs vote was bought by Amar Singh by the money paid by US based Nuclear industry, but somehow parliament this time managed to contain the damage because Amar Singh does not enjoy clout.

Nuclear Bill
by t prasad on Oct 21, 2010 11:28 AM

This article is upsurb, who is this USA taking us to be novice. Who is this Mr. Burns, who calls himself as the champion of this nuclear deal. Who are they to dictate terms to us about what to include and what not to include in the bill. It is better, for us to call off the deal and show them what is India. They never lear from ther defeats in the hands of Vietnam.
