You have to ask yourself as to why the militants enter India with the support of some Kashmiris. Only then the police/army is needed in Kashmir. It is time for introspection so that the normal people of Kashmir can live in peace.

Lalu - Chara (Fodder) Ghotala
by Wahaj Faridy on Nov 30, 2010 11:02 AM

Do people ever realize that petty cost Fodder is purchased by municipalties for feeding stray city animals put in Goshaalas.

Tell me what will be size of Budget for this ??... nothing compared to roads, water, electricity maintenance.

I am surprised how people can equate Telecom, defense and CWG scams with Lalu

Another example of India's penchant for vicarious pride? Isn't Fareed Zakaria an American citizen?

I have something against Jews when I find them engrossed with world vision of "We, the Chosen people vs others".

When such fundamentalist mindset translates into policies, outcome is HEGEMONY.

This Hegemony is in roots of most dissentions in world today.
Some of the explicit outcomes of this hegemony are Ethnic cleansing of Palestinians while they were all open arms for Jews.... and Sharp propaganda against my religion to befool the world and create divides.

But rest assured, my attack on them would never be baseless

Well well... The "we the chosen people Vs other" syndrome is not just a Jewish anomaly. Don't Muslims suffer form persecution complex? Don't the maniacs in your religion -- as much as those among Jews -- keep repeating that Islam is the only genuine way to god and other are "kufr"? Are Christians any different? And today our rabid Hindutva proponents too are beginning to take that line in a subtle way.

So stop pointing fingers. The state of Israel has for sure screwed up several things. I agree with that. But your take on Jews in general is symptomatic of a typical Islamist world-view where everyone else is out to get you!

Take a chill pill, dude.

Dear Mr. Menon,

For a long time I have been reading viewer's comments on the rediff news section. Your comment here strikes me as a rare example of matured non-biased argument - that too on a forum where all I see is juvenile debating.

The word 'fundamentalist' is often used to describe the hardline-approach to religion taken by intolerant fanatics in almost every major religion in the world. While that is not incorrect, the socio-cultural fabric of 'religious fundamentalism' is far deeper and complex. I would urge all readers to please read on 'anthropological evolution of religious beliefs' before passing expert comments. Mr. Menon, i take this opportunity to congratulate you on your holistic stance.

Food for thought - an extract from the Ripley's Archive section is very intersting : "if you count all ages and eras in history right from the beginning, more people have died 'in the name of religion' than death caused by famines, epidemics, non-religious wars, floods and droughts put together. I agree there is no way of statistically validating this - however I have spent the last 18 months comprehensively collecting approx figures from ancient, medieval and modern history. And surprise - there may be a strong element of truth in this claim.

Makes you wonder - what was the point in the mental conceiving of religions at all ? Can normal plain-vanilla spirituality and meditation achieve the same purity of thought and action, withou

I was watching the horror movie "Mist" recently. One of the characters, a cynic himself, makes a statement on these line: "...how depraved essentially human nature is. One opportunity and we tend to get to each others' throats. Why do you think we invented religion and politics?!"

I am in complete harmony with your (and Ripley's Archives') view on religion.

I completely agree with your stand that spirituality must views separately from religion. The latter being more a political identity than anything else.

even the most rabid hindutva proponent will not say that their way is the only right way. others are welcome to follow their own paths but please do not try to convert or threaten us. that is the essence of hindutva or hinduism whatever you call it.

Rabid Hindutva is a relative recent phenomenon -- not more than 100 years old. And even in this early stage, it has shown all the traits of a full fledged semitic religion. Give it some time and 'we are the chosen ones' bug will bite it too. Already you can hear self-declarations on the lines of Hinduism being the "best" or "most glorious"!

ethnic cleansin of palestines???? Get ur facts right. There are 20% more palestines in israel than they were in 2000. If the cleansing is happening there would be no palestinians there.

Anyways they are proving to be more than adequate to muslims around the world(1 jew to every 200 muslims). They have proved time and again that they can defeat all the arab countries together (one against 14).

Anyway , your hatred for muslims has no base. Jews were persecuted and systamatically cleansed from almost all arab nations (bigest cleanser among them is a prophut who lived 400 yes back). They are living in their own land now(Israel). We should respect their indipendence.

If you ever think we M's think of us as The chosen people, then be corrected...

We think We are last of the Chosen People of God as God chose People After People at Different times / ages for sending Divine Messages.

We believe may be Indians were the First of the Chosen people of God.

India is ailing due to pending drastic political and administrative reforms. How shameful it is that Police/judiciary could not bring confidence amongst people in the system. We are still ruled/governed there is no SWARAJ. None of those shown above can bring this change, they may be expert in their own field, but our system fails everyone.
Greatest beed us constitutional rquirement on the issues pertaining to population, corruption, terrorism, employment, indiscipline, divisive politics etc.,etc., if these are sorted out, others will start running.
