In order to stay ahead of the risk curve, the Mumbai Fire Department on Saturday 17, 2010 had offered its specialized awareness about Fire safety to help and educate the members of the Grand Paradi CHS, Kemps Corner, Mumbai about the risks of Fire Threats, and by demonstrating Fire safety and Fire Tips and Drills for the members of the Grand Paradi CHS. Mr Amin, Mr Disilva, Mr Hiravle and their team also aimed to educate the Grand Paradi CHS residents about their personal safety from Fire.
Fires strikes unannounced. Risks abound. Preventions cant wait, Neither can We, the members of the Grand Paradi CHS. Chance Favours the prepared mind.
We appreciate the interest of the MUMBAI FIRE DEPARTMENT in strengthening the FIRE security umbrella over the GRAND PARADI CHS, and each and every member of our Society would be glad to form a part of this critical endeavour.
The WB government strikes a new low in incompetence every passing day. The first duty of any Govt is to ensure the safety of its citizens. Towards ths goal, does the WB Govt have any safety guidelines published & issued for all high rise buildings including the ones that are more than a century old. Are there any standards published for keeping fire fighting equipment on each floor ? Do these old buildings need any periodic re-certifica- tion for its internal wiring - are there any standards to be met by the building owners ?. Is our fire fighting equipment adequate to fight similar fires in future i.e. be able to reach the top most floors ? Lots of questions that need detailed answers to make up for the present inadequacies. Emotions apart, why do we need to continue with these old buildings if they pose a security risk to its inhabit- ants ? Shuld they have been pulled down at least a decade back ? When was the last time, a surprise check was conducted on these buildings ?
