more than 85% of tamils boycotted the elections
Please check the facts
No tamils in Srilanka wanted to participate in the elections
Only 15% tamils have registered their votes
That too forcibly made to vote
All Tamil dominated areas Rajapakse lost miserably.
Fonseka lost in his birthplace badly

I am sorry. Tamils are a part of Lanka and have as much right to vote in our elections. They never did boycott the elections and participated in them with vigor

what do you mean they participated with vigour. The turn out was 20% in tamil areas. Stop spreading your lies. You are trying make Sinhalease sound nice and hide the human rights violation and the fear psychosis created by your people on tamils.

I am not trying to spread lies. Tamils are as much a part of Sri Lanka as the Sinhalese. By full vigor i did not mean 100%, i do hope that next elections they vote in full strength.
I agree that some of Sinhalese indulged in gross human rights voilations and they need to be brought to justice. I do hope that Sri Lanka enter a new era of peace and growth and put behind the past.

Srilankan Tamils have same rights to live to vote in srilanka as any others living there. In fact they have more rights than Senegalese who came to that island centuries later after Tamilans.

Sri lanka can not be properous and developed unless you guys take along the tamils and tamils enjoy as much as sinahalese do in all walks of life. Mind you it is Tamil land occupied by the sinahalese. We tamils are generous and that is the only reason you have beejn up on shoulder. Democracy will have a final laugh. How did you arrive at the figures of 30,000 deaths? True, during the war there were excesses, resulting in pain and destruction. But the end has justified the means. Anywhere the war would have casualties.

Every country is dependent on other countries for technology and weapons. For instance, India has sanctioned yesterday shopping of a list of defence items, worth more than $2billion from the US. Does that mean Indian does not have a huge arsenal?

I am a war-weary SL Tamil from Pesalai, Mannar. I forgive Rajapakse for the excesses his army committed during the war, as any war in the world would have caused casualties. Anyway, finally, the ends have justified the means. Today, I can have access to Internet; send my children to school without fear of LTTE abductions; and walk on the road freely with the hope of returning home safely. Although it looked appealing, the LTTE really ruined our lives. Now we have the peace, and I voted for Rajapakse this time.

its high time rediff starts using some brain when writing their news. He killed 30,000 tamils with his so called Midas touch - and killed scores of Sri Lankan journalists. For all the hype about his election victory, Sri Lankan Chief Election Commissioner has resigned - basically invalidating legitimacy of the election itself. I strongly condemn Rediff.
