I am sorry. Tamils are a part of Lanka and have as much right to vote in our elections. They never did boycott the elections and participated in them with vigor

what do you mean they participated with vigour. The turn out was 20% in tamil areas. Stop spreading your lies. You are trying make Sinhalease sound nice and hide the human rights violation and the fear psychosis created by your people on tamils.

I am not trying to spread lies. Tamils are as much a part of Sri Lanka as the Sinhalese. By full vigor i did not mean 100%, i do hope that next elections they vote in full strength. I agree that some of Sinhalese indulged in gross human rights voilations and they need to be brought to justice. I do hope that Sri Lanka enter a new era of peace and growth and put behind the past.

Srilankan Tamils have same rights to live to vote in srilanka as any others living there. In fact they have more rights than Senegalese who came to that island centuries later after Tamilans.

Mr. Colombo boy go read your Mahavamsam and u will understand that sinhalese came to srilanka after Tamils and only because you are a mojority now ask the Tamisl to go back to Tamilnadu. And Mr. Singaravelu I think now you understand the mind set of Sinhalese who treat Tamils always as a second class citizen cum Slave.

You are one of those lankan sinhalese with no vision. No country in the world has prospered without taking along all the parties together. Sri lanka can not be properous and developed unless you guys take along the tamils and tamils enjoy as much as sinahalese do in all walks of life. Mind you it is Tamil land occupied by the sinahalese. We tamils are generous and that is the only reason you have beejn up on shoulder. Democracy will have a final laugh. Soon, your war criminals will be brought to justice. I have so far thought sri lankas are far-sighted and educated. People like you remind me that sri lanka will be always like this irrespective who rules the country. Mind you, you guys are still at the mercy of india and china for anything you need

Singaravelu Anthoni sounds very Indian and not a typical Jaffna or Mannar Tamil name. Even the few words of Tamil that you used sounded more Indian than Jaffna/Mannar Tamil. I think you are Muslim or a Tamil of Indian origin or even a Sinhalese and not an Eelam Tamil

Yes this is the man wholead a small army with the help of big countries like China, India and Pakisthan and killed many innocent civilians in the process of defeating LTTE. The population will be reduced as per your wish as now he is a undisputed king of sinhalas.
Re: Greatest South Asian leader ever

How did you arrive at the figures of 30,000 deaths? True, during the war there were excesses, resulting in pain and destruction. But the end has justified the means. Anywhere the war would have casualties.
Re: Greatest South Asian leader ever
by nandha C on Jan 28, 2010 09:53 AM
Colomboycoy - Yes you are correct a small army of 2 Lakhs with full equipments from India,Pakistan,China,Russia,Israel,UK & other Country to defeat 15 Thousand Fighters Plus 30 thousand & more Innocent Civilians.
Re: Re: Greatest South Asian leader ever

Every country is dependent on other countries for technology and weapons. For instance, India has sanctioned yesterday shopping of a list of defence items, worth more than $2billion from the US. Does that mean Indian does not have a huge arsenal?

Yes Every Country is dependent on other countries to buy fire arms but Srilanka got help in all terms such as Sattelite information on movements of enemies,Round up by Indian Navy, Technical support by Indian BEL employees and pakistani pilots

Hi Srimewan Silva, If those singhalese are known for politeness the why the hell all these wars and struggle for more than 60 years
I am a war-weary SL Tamil from Pesalai, Mannar. I forgive Rajapakse for the excesses his army committed during the war, as any war in the world would have caused casualties. Anyway, finally, the ends have justified the means. Today, I can have access to Internet; send my children to school without fear of LTTE abductions; and walk on the road freely with the hope of returning home safely. Although it looked appealing, the LTTE really ruined our lives. Now we have the peace, and I voted for Rajapakse this time.

This is a beautiful post Singaravelu. If more people both on the Sinhala side as well as the Tamil side emulate your attitude, Sri Lanka will be well on the way to prosperity and a glorious peaceful egalitarian future. Well said and best wishes to you.

Singaravelu, You can send children to school yes and when you try to send him to good university (provided your son gets high score)then you would understand why all the problems started. I hope you will realize soon. You said Rajapakse would do something for tamils. We are all going to watch. Let us see

Believe me, my daughter got through her A Levels with great difficulty, and now hobnobbing with the Sinhalese students at the Peradeniya University. The discriminatory policies have disappeared now.

Yes you are right. Your daughter strived hard to get into A Levels to enter peradeniya Univ where as Singhalese need to take only B levels to enetr th same Univ

You say that yuo are a Tamil form Mannar but your using the Indian Tamil dialect and not the Northern Jaffna Tamil dialcet used by the Mannar Tamils. Strange you really a Tamil form Mannar or just a Muslim or an Indian origin Tamil? SingaraBelu sounds very Indian, I am a Jaffan Tamil and havae never come across Jaffan or Mannar tamils with names like Singaram or Sinagaravelu

Singaravelu, That colmbo boy is abusing your daughter indirectly... Report abuse!
its high time rediff starts using some brain when writing their news. He killed 30,000 tamils with his so called Midas touch - and killed scores of Sri Lankan journalists. For all the hype about his election victory, Sri Lankan Chief Election Commissioner has resigned - basically invalidating legitimacy of the election itself. I strongly condemn Rediff.
