best option...
by s mumbai on Aug 10, 2010 12:17 PM  | Hide replies

our politicians are smiling for they smell an opportunity for procurement of nonsense materials for cleaning the oils...
So the best option is
BURN THE OIL...

the state or central pollution control boards must evaluate the proportionate release of CO@, H2S, SOx, NOx, etc due to burning of so much oil...
They must ask the company to pay as penalty in form of currency against the equivalent "carbon credit"..
Plus a comprehensive one time penalty of 50 crores towards betterment of sea where oil has spilled...

If this oil spill had happened in the US, one and all would have raised a huge alarm!!But this is INDIA and everybody is lax!! like the meter jam campaign, somebody should take up this matter seriously and protest and make the owners of the ship pay for it!!

the politicians will fill up their pockets from the owners and let go them easily or charging something like 100 - 200 pages charge sheet to keep going on the case as long as it makes them money.

Besides the enviromental irreparable damage done by the Oil Spill, I feel there should be a thorough enquiry into its cause.

Its reeks of a conspiracy than negligence.

Mumbaiites are advised not to consume fish for a month...Sad!!

Why the hullaballoo over this matter? As it is, Mumbai's Seas are Screwed; this spill will make it a bit more screwy. Actually, scientits have warned the World to stop consuming fish completely as the Mercury levels in the fish have risen to irreparable volumes due to the contamination of the Seas. It's better the World heed this warning as a majority of the World population suffering from illnesses is due to this; the rest being atmospheric pollution, third grade foodstuff sold off as Premium just because they've been imported, etc.

Interestingly, the inventor (& maximum share holder) of WORLD POLLUTION happens to be an entity which is trying to market itself as 'Clean' & 'Messiah' plus whom many entity's lick - USA.

Why do people make mistakes?
Mistakes cause accidents. That is the inevitable sequence of events and we humans are the people making the mistakes, but why? What are the reasons that people make mistakes? guidelines covers how to prevent them, it focused mainly on design of equipment and operator training. Will this ever happen?

NEED FOR DISASTER MANAGEMENT PLAN
by prakash narayan on Aug 10, 2010 09:51 AM

YET AFTER THE TERRORIST ATTACK ON 26/11 WE CAN SEE SOME ACTION TAKEN BY MUMBAI POLICE.?

How did this collission took place?

This is a very rare case.Reasons are many and varied.

1. The Pilot of the vessel would have casually took it as a days job of piloting.
2. Frequency of the vessel with port control not matching.Normally it is Freq 16 .This can be 12 or 9 etc according to Mumbai port trust rules .

3. The officer on watch not diligent to wart accidents.

4 MSC company is one of the best container co in the world.Port entry check list would have been complied.

5.On the wheels if some one(AB or officer in charge ) missing.

FINALLY WE SEE THAT THE VESSEL WAS ALLOWED TO SINK,JUST LIKE IN AN ROAD ACCIDENT THE VICTIM WAS LEFT TO DIE BY BLEEDING.

WILL THE AUTHORITIES OPEN THEIR EYES AND MAKE A CONTINGENCY PLAN IN SUCH A MAJOR PORT.
