what congress did was over 50 years. Mayawati is trying to do the same in 2 to 3 years. In the process the expenses on such items in terms of GDP becomes too large to be taken care off. go slow on such things.
When you have thousands of Memorials built in the name of the Nehrus and Gandhis (except public conveniences) through tax payer money, I think there is absolutely nothing wrong in Madam Chief Minister Hon'bl Ms. Mayawati building such memorials for whom she has personal regard.
Tell me just one good reason for building so many roads, dams, airports, railway stations, bus stations, educational institutions, scientific laboratories carrying the name of Nehru this or Gandhi that, as though we have nobody else in this country of 1 billion plus who would warrant such an honour. What is wrong with the UPG (UP Government) building memorials in honour of Kanshi Ram, Buddha, Ambedkar etc.

two wrong do not make it a right. I would like to see that money spent on education, training and uplifting poor Dalits and other poor people.

If Madam Mayavati has PERSONAL regard let her build from the money of her pocket.. Being CM doesn't mean that tax payers money is her money.. Let her mind this.. What ever the name be either Nehru or Gandhi.. All educational Institutes or other public properties built are for the public.. Lots of publics are helped by those public properties? What is the use of building lots of statues? It only feeds the Mayavati's PERSONAl thirsts and her party men's thirsts.. She is merrying with Public Money/Tax payers money.. Why couldn't she improve the state's infrastructure with that money? She is elected by the people not to satisfy her PERSONAL interests.. Its to fulfill the Publics interests.. Let her mind this.. Even if she builds so many statues (including her's what I heard, Just like Saddam build his own.. Will be pulled down one or the other day.. Her statues doesn't keep her in the pages of History.. Only her good deeds to the people will remain in the hearts and minds of people.. Even though she is remembered.. its not in the pages of famous.. its in the pages of INFAMOUS eaders pages.. Let her remember this..

Dear, pls get matured! Road, Dams, etc., will be used by Public. But how about statues? It serves no use for the public. It is because of people like you vote, India is like this. Yatha Praja, Tatha Raja.

Budddy, there is absolutely nothing wrong in building airports, railway stations, educational institutions and name it after a leader as it benefits the common man from whom u collect taxes. But she has no business building memorials at the ta payers expense which serves no purpose for the common man. Get ur facts right friend!

Is that lady or her party so popular and immortal in days and years to come? 2600 crores is a whopping amount can be spent on public utility projects. SC is right in censuring her.

@Vladimir You are right. There is absolutely nothing wrong in building memorials to Ambedkar, kanshi ram and others because 1. They served the common people more than the Nehrus who did zilch of the common man. 2.The Nehru Gandhi clan dead have taken up hundreds of sq km of prime land in the capital which everyone seems to fine with even the courts that cry foul over statues. 3. Those who talk about two wrongs no making one right should first rectify that wrong, otherwise it is sheer discrimination against the Dalits. 4. Ambedkar, Kanshi ram, Mayawati etc have inflicted less damage on the nation if any than the Nehrus-Gandhis. They did not hand over thousands of sq km of Indian territory to China like Nehru.
