It is not india's inability, it is the greed for more that drives people to developed nations, even after completing education they dont come back for the want of money

India should not take credit for Ramkrishnan's achevement. He is in an American citizen and credit must go to America for providing him dignified levelihood , intellectual and research enviornment and encouragement. If he had stayed back in India under discriminatory Connstitution and politically abused quota system he would have languished as a middle school teacher or a lab asst.

Raakshas, you mean, Nobel material, should be willing to work under nincompoops like Anbumani Ramadoss. You find Anbumani Ramadoss in walks of life, everywhere, spread throughout the length and breadth of our nation. For outstanding brains, it is impossible to work under iiddiioottss. The best remedy is to go to a place where you have academic freedom, where you do not have buffaloes breathing down your neck. But only brainy people will understand that. For ordinary folks they would appear to be "greedy". You know ordinary always remains ordinary and it can never come out of that ordinary shell.

....You find Anbumani Ramadoss in ALL walks of life.... That's a correction.

He is no doubt a great scientist, but eventually he left his country and took oath and became an american citizen. If really someone wants to recognize than do it for people like baba amte.
Re: citizenship
by Raakshas on Oct 08, 2009 03:35 PM
He is bound by oath to serve america's interest and would do so, forgetting his native tamil nadu and gujarat where he studied.everybody wants to studay for Rs. 200 per semester but dont want to work for Rs. 20000 per month
Re: Re: Re: citizenship

I am not against him serving any country or humans at large. My point is simply related to his revocation of India's citizenship.
It is proud to hear the nobel prize awarded to a Tamilnadu based Indian. Our sincere greetings to the great Venky.Hard & Sincere work definitely yields a valuable output 1 day - i.e. on 7th Sep 2009 to Mr Venkatraman Ramakrishnan
Rediff carries articles on NRI student studying psychology and giving beauty gyan.I can't recall reading anything on Mr.Ramakrishnan earlier on rediff. Now its story, which sells.

Do not day dream. There are several greats in other community. Bengalis have more talent and greatness than you people. They already have 2 Nobel lauriates from WB and 1 from Bangladesh and 1 Oscar (which is solely received without any foriegn connection and for films not music!!). Just imagine how many they could have produced if Bengal was not ruined by commies.

Bengalis live in the past>.Tamilians live in rhe present and practical.tamilnadu is fast becoming thetechnogy of India. Chennai has become the Detroit of India.Their Techinical and IT skills are formidable Tamil Engineers will give a stiff competition to the Chinese. Tagore is a Bore. If you want to go to sleep listen to Rabindra sangeeth which only Bengalis like as they love misery> They are pseudo intellectuals like Keralites. That iswhy these 2 states are not progressing
Dear Sir, We salute you on winning teh Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2009 and once again making we Indian's Proud Human's on this world. We also gey inspired by this. God Bless You for prosperiety and happiness and peace in life. From Manohar P Nankani Secunderabad AP
From all accounts, professor appears to be a human being first and then a brilliant scientist. Years of hard work has landed him a great honour anybody would be pround of. Real tribute to the American science environment that nurtures excellence irrespective of where a man comes from.

regionally, racially and religiously biased. Not to forget about universal Indian trait of trying to pull down others and not letting them rise.
Who is Venky? Why is that only a Nobel Prize is required to bring out his work? Even he said that "2 hours back I was nobody. So what is special about Nobel?"
I love his humility and his issue that Indian scientists are not getting their due credit just because they are not recognised by any foreign institution.
