When men neglected, crushed and banished by government and society find success abroad they are used to whip up accolades for the government and Indians in general.
Why is it always that an Indian has to leave India in order to achieve success? The biggest example of this is Mahatma Gandhi, who rose to fame only after he settled down in South Africa.
Its high time Indians and government start giving respect to Indian intellectuals and scientists otherwise next time too it will be an Indian-born person receiving a Noble prize and not an Indian.

My impression of Tambrahms are to the contrary doverdemon. Yes. They are not cantankerous. When push comes to a shove, it is true, they step aside and they do not indulge in street-fighting. Any one who finds himself/herself in a fix, if they approach a Tambrahm, if he/she can, they go out of their way to help. This is especially so when it is non-brahms from TN and the Tambrahm makes it his duty to attend to the requirements of this non-brahm (who hounded him out of his roots). They are very courageous and stand for what they consider is near to their heart. It may be a friend (of any hue), a sibbling, parents, his family, his community, his country, his language (not necessarily in that order).
Therefore doverdemon do not generalize. You find nitpickers in all the communities, in all the places of the world. I am myself of Oriya-Bengalee roots. I find Tambrahms to be very nice people. They may not spontaneously hug you, or they may not take juutaa kaanaa. They may be very adamant about their views, but they allow you your right to hold to your own. They have no problems with that.
So in this time of general happiness, please, pick some other moment to quarrel. Now let us simbly(!) celebrate.
This is a true sign of a great scientist. I knew only one other scientist of repute in India who was a crystallographer and worked with a Nobel scientist, Ms Robinson who could speak science even to a child in simple language. He was the late Dr S.Ramaseshan a former director of the IISc and a nephew of Sir CV Raman.
