All awards in India are favouritism Awards
by Balti Singh on Nov 16, 2009 09:48 AM  | Hide replies

In India, Favouritism is always shown while giving away awards. Let it be any award, Bharat Ratna or any small awards to school children, favouritism is inevitable part of it.

Even the President of India position is given away with favouritism.

At least, Maharashtra government should acknowledge these policemen with some certificate and promotion in their job.

It happens only in India, You do something extra-ordinary at your work and beg for recognition.

What a shame that not even one blogger mentions the name of the martyr Onkar Omble who single-handedly immobilize killer kesab and threw away kesab's ak47 though Onkar was killed by bullets of friends of kesab. What a shame that no media channel or newspaper cared to report the brave deeds of Onkar Omble and has NOT even cared to support the poor family members of this real brave freedom fighter and martyr.Shame RSS,VHP and BJP and Shiv Sena cadres too for not honouring this brave warrior and patriot and for not honouring and supporting the family of Onkar Omble too even at this sad day of 26/11 terror anniversary.Wake Up,Hindus, Do Not continue to Sleep,More.

Inspector Deepak Dhole deserves to be congratulated for his courage especially when we see so many mumbai policemen look the otherway chewing paan and picking tooth when some crime is committed. You can be rest assured that his boss would have already collected the award, medal, promotion etc. Police force must be impartial and desist from internal politics. Only then honest officers will have the spirit to perform their duties without fear or favour

high tech is needed for better policing.

Police needs technology and training. We must computerise all police station. Have photo ids for every one. So minute a person does any crime anywhere in india. he can be caught easily. West uses very high tech in policing thats why they are able control crime. We should pay taxes so govt can invest money on policing. Otherwise govt never have money more than paying salary.

we cant use excuse that govt is currupt for not paying taxes. even in west govt officer eat 10 %. In india they eat little more. But there is no way out. Govt need money to invest infrstructure. Otherwise they wont build anything. Only people will become rich with lots of money in bank. Govt should charge 30% tax from all the salary like USA. then we will grow faster.

Dilution of Bravery Awards
by Jonnalagadda Rajendra on Nov 14, 2009 10:23 PM  | Hide replies

Constituted first in 1950, the Ashoka Chakra is the highest award for gallantry away from the battlefield, or not in the face of the enemy. The Ashoka Chakra is an Indian military decoration which is the peace time equivalent of the Param Vir Chakra awarded for the "most conspicuous bravery or some daring or pre-eminent valour or self-sacrifice" other than in the face of the enemy. The decoration may be awarded either to military or civilian personnel and may be awarded posthumously. The very purpose of introducing this gallantry award is to accord due recognition to the individuals for most conspicuous acts of bravery of extremely high order.
We need to understand the aspects of duty and bravery in proper perspective. Clearly the roll of Shri Tukaram Omble, who has identified the attacker, understood the gravity of the situation and challenged the heavily armed deadly attackers in utter disregard to his own safety and life is the act of gallantry which deserves conferring this highest award.
Without intending to cast any aspersions on the competence and professionalism of Shri Hemant Karkare, Shri Ashok Kamble and Shri Vijay Salaskar, the acts of these officers do not appear to fall in the same category. It must be remembered that as the chief of ATS if Shri Hemant Karkare and other officers have taken certain initial actions, it was their duty. In any case no significant action was done by these officers against Mumbai attackers.

Yes Mr. Dhole, even the transfer and appointment of Inspector, DCP and CP is in the hand of 10 Janpath, and giving medals to any citizen or police officer also in the hand of 10-Janpath. India is not sorvereign country, in practicle, Cabinet can not take decision without the permission of 10-Janpath, and thus President has to work on the aid and advise of Cabinet and cabinet is under 10-Janpath. There fore Mr. Dhole, freedom is on only in books.
