Vote support BJP

Whether it is investments or his drives for improved child nutrition, girl child enrolment, hospital deliveries or rural sanitation, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is never short of bragging points. Now, he has more reason for immodesty. Against a national average of 2.8% in a five year period to 2006-07, the latest year for which state-wise data is available, Gujarat has become the fastest growing state agriculturally. It clocked a growth rate of 12.8% after a decline during the previous five years and higher growth during the early 1990s, but a smart bounce nonetheless in view of a severe drought in 2002-03.

In contrast, West Bengal is the worst performing in agriculture. Farming in the state is in secular decline from 5.3% in the early 1990s to 3.9% during the next five years, and less than half that growth during the latest five year period. Poor farming performance should be a cause of concern for the left front government that parades its land reforms.

West Bengal nearly three percent of the nation's cultivable land and about eight per cent of the country's population. It produces more than eight per cent of the food of the country. The State has achieved an all time record in food grains production and ranks first in production of rice in the country. Remarkable progress has also been made during the last one decade in the production of oilseeds which increased from 0.24 million tones to 0.55 million tones during the last decade. The State produces nearly 28 per cent of the total potato grown in the country. In terms of productivity it stands second. West Bengal also produces more than 60 per cent of the country's raw jute fiber.

There are several factors for Gujarat 's agricultural performance. Among them water from the Narmada, investments in check dams, widespread cultivation of genetically-modified cotton, a dedicated power grid for the farming sector that assures regular supply during non-peak hours, and rejuvenation of the extension system by Chief Minister Narendra Modi. These factors will be further analysed to find out how much growth can be attributed to each of them.

What caused the BJP-BJD divorce in Orissa
by Govindan on Mar 11, 2009 11:17 PM  | Hide replies

Since Pyari Mohan Mohaptra is a bureaucrat – turned- politician he cannot be trusted. Those bureaucrats who leaves the Govt. service normally power hungry without any principle and ready to do any thing for the sake of money. He has manipulated the figures to convince Naveen Patnaik that BJD can fight alone without the help of BJP. But the ground reality is far different. At present Congress and BJD is having equal strength ( 38% each)and to form a Govt . they have to take support of other parties. The third biggest party is BJP.(18%). So it is very difficult for BJD to form a stable Govt without the support of BJP. It appears that he has convinced Patnaik by taking the performance of Pachayath & Municipality elections. When Congress could spent crores of Rupees during trial of strength in the Parliament here also they have adopted the same policy. Some millions of dollars might have gone in Swiss Bank who helped the BJP-BJD split. Now Pyari Mohan Mohaptra is talking like a Congressmen “Senior BJD MP Pyarimohan Mohapatra, who is being described as the regional outfit's main strategist, said, "The BJP was attempting a Hindutva agenda in Kandhamal which the party did not approve of.".

This is story of Patanaik, he now begs one two MLAs here and there. Soon, an independent will tell him, gime me CM post. else I withdraw. Now, Patanaik live on mercey of commies, JMM, Kangress, and endless one man parties.

Chaos..Chaos... & Only Chaos
by Parashar Das on Mar 11, 2009 10:15 PM  | Hide replies

If you ask many leader of both BJP & BJD in closed door whether the separation was good for them, most of them will say no..how ever Loss for BJP will be monumental. But Naveen & Pyari should never forget that BJP may come down to single figure but it certainly has enough venom to topple Naveen in state election.
*Being a cadre based party,if BJP can pull atleast 5-10% vote of BJD,then ultimately it will help congress.
*Many leaders who are switching sides are doing political harakiri,As it shows clear opportunism.
*Naveen have to adjust his new friends very carefully because it will be very difficult for him to trust his new friends.

In oriya there is famous saying,"Swami pache maru, sautuni Randa hau" which means Let my Husband dies,My Sautan should get widowed..or in Hindi Hum to Dubenge,Tum ko bhi le dubenge sanam. Now BJP funda for Orissa is exactly same.

* He has given BJP to play communal card and it can be exploited by BJP at least in riot hit areas.
* Except undived Cuttack & Puri District,BJP have strong hold in other districts & being in revenge mode it will act as a spoiler.
* Congress has strong hold in tribal areas & It was BJP which made inroads in this vote. Now BJP is in decline,Tribals will certainly back congress.
* JMM will definitely thorn in the neck due its separitist agenda & will hamper BJD's perspect in at least 3 districts.

Parting ways of BJD and BJP
by swami pudipeddi on Mar 11, 2009 09:47 PM  | Hide replies

It is quite but natural that the BJD in a winning mood demands mores seats or leve less seats to BJP. The leaders of BJP are such that they do not have any long vision. Ultimately parting of the ways will give a good leverage to all the others who were having a single memebr or maximum four memebrs. Congress ofcourse ultimate beneficiary and it may come to power on its own in the state because it ruled the state on several previous occasions and changed its PCCI President. Let us wait and watch to which party BJD extends support at the Centre. Hindus are not united and there are 33 Cr. Hindu Gods dividing the worshippers in a peculiar fashion. BJP's Hindutva is the way of life of Hindus who are tolerant of all other religions right from beginning and never opposed even the country was ruled by Moghuls. All Hindus should allow themselves to be lured for conversion by the other relgious people and should not raise even eye brows if their leaders are brutally killed/murdered. Then they will be given the apron of seculirism.
