As Ambedkar said we shall exchange the Hindus and Muslims from Pakisthan for well being of both the countries as soon as the partision happened. If that would have happened India would have been the best in the world.
some one said he was shot in cold blood. RSS and many staunch nationalists in RSS feared, values of Hinduism and Hindu culture will be go to dogs if Gandhi was hell bent on convincing Father of muslim nation (he who should not be named) to stay with India. Oh boy! I cannot think of mayhem that might have caused with all those neighboring country men as our countrymen. India would have become Taliban nation and we could never be Indians. Whatever it was good.
BUT now, we never followed Gandhi on moral part. Indians lost MORAL. No more are taught in primary schools those moral classes. And Gandhi was Saint among millions of immoral citizens. 5xrmm
Gandhi is hated by epeople he lead to freedom and is revered by everyone else. MAkes one think that in a fit of celebrity hood gandhi actually destroyedand misguided his own people.
A good leader is one who is revered by his followers not only when he is alive but also when he is dead. By this defn, GAndhi was is and will always be a big failure

I dont agree with you. I revere him, so do a lot of people I know.
I admit that I also know people that hate him (a minority in my circle) and I respect their views on that.
Gandhi, I believe, was one of the few leaders, who believed in establishing secular, civilized India, rather than a Hindu rashtra and a Muslim rashtra. He is hated by some for that. But, I will always love him for that.

Only converts abstain from Hailing Mahatma Gandhi. They might have thought it must Sonia Maino the crook uses the Gandhi name.
India is no longer following Gandhi: it has a huge army, industry, pubs, discotheques, violence etc etc all of which were an anathema to Gandhi who believed in self sufficient village republics based on handicrafts. Gandhi is synonymous with a state of reverence to which humans may aspire but from which they are going astray farther and farther and there seems to be no out to reverse the trend.
