well authors explanations are interesting but he is certainly biased about making statements about America. Does he forgot about Iraq?? in 2006-07 every one was talking about one more Vietnam in Iraq but what happened after military surge is evident. Iraq may not be a functioning democracy (India is still not after 60 years!) but it is certainly stable and there is no threat of Al-Quada taking over. May be bribing Iraqis helped them but all that count is the end result and that is, Iraq is not one more Vietnam. I agree with author that Afghanistan is different because of ISI and Pak army hidden support, but America is certainly not there to loose the war. I am sure that this surge (and bribing!) will work as it did in Iraq and give its result in coming years.

"..there is no threat of Al-Quada taking over" When did the Al-Queda taking over Iraq threat exist in the first place. All IRAQ inquiry committees both in US and Britain concluded that there was no Iraq-Al-queda link exist. Do you still believe the Iraq war is about "installing democracy" in Iraq as chanted by Bush II and western US corporate media? It's all about 3 letter word OIL. Now there is a looming threat of Taliban taking over Pakistani government. Why isn't US invading Pakistan?

Dear friend i agree for some of your points but America attacked Iraq not because of Al-Quaeda threat, There was no Al-Quaeda threat in Iraq, they attacked Iraq for storing Chemical Weapons but till their evacuation they couldn't find one.
We have great 'slums' and slum dwellers our prince charming Rahulji to show us the path. A muslim can be a prim minister. We are likely to back in Mughal Age very soon and Taliban ruling us.
India is a big and powerful nation. Having vast natural resource, the huge population, and military might,India always looks helpless, and want other nations support and in this process making blunder and mistakes in national interest.India should come out from the clutches of America and other powers.

true we have everything but utterly C H U T I Y E politicians. We cant progress till we have some good people governing/representing us. Youth has to come up to clean this gutter, we cant just sit and abuse for everything. Its time to take up the govt and make it answerable. Stop selling your votes and vote smartly for a smart India. Jai Hind.

well said rahul.
we are even today ruled by some political families, which want to be in power by any means no mater what hapens to indian economy or defence structure-pawar,deshmukh,schindia,gandhi,karunidhi,abdullah,yadavs and many such families are ruining nation

All those families are "runing" may be because other family new generation like "ghorpade" doesnt want to enter politics and would rather hammer it along in the keyboard. In the families that you have mentioned, atleast some have entered politics grassroot level, toiled hard and made fortune by hook or crook.I'm not justifying corruption byt they have worked hard for it because their country allowed any of its citizens to contest elections and be a minister if they "play" the games that is needed. Can you say the same against China? There the party decides who will be PM or President. Any common man willing to do oterwise, will be shot dead. Read about Tianmen square to realise its Red because of blood, humane blood and not bcoz of party colour.

thats true. We are so involved in petty matters that our defence, intelligence areas below par. US found about Headley and 26/11 before India ever had any clue.

Unified China..my foot.Do you think if you were a chinese, that you have the freedom to write against it just as you did against India? Its not territories, olympic golds,or US currency reserves that decides a great nation. Rather it is the freedom to its citizens to say/do anything and a great culture. Unfortunately China doesnt have any of this. It doesnt matter if your cage is golden or diamond-laden as long as you are caged in it..
This theory of India perpetually making a case against Pak in the international forums has not yielded even one paise of result including the latest Mumbai terrorists trial. I think India is foolish to assume someone else is going to tell please go and finish off your enemies. No other country in the world would have got so many windows of opportunities like us to strike against elements in Pak yet we still are waiting for some messiah to show us the path. The delay on this front will cost us very high in the future.

Sharad Gupta... Congress does not have an iota of self respect, all they wish is to remain in power even at the expense of surrendering our foreign policy to the Americans no problems.
But, the lies they spoke to us, are unravelling one by one. Just wait and watch, this is the beginning of the end of the Congress party.
Strong India can fight against of its enemies. India remain weak becuase we don't have internal harmony. We have naxalism and communists who don't believe in democracy. Even after 50 years, we remain poor country because we don't have governance. Most of the local leaders are goons who hardly bother about people. Rampant corruption in every govt department and vote bank politics paralized every department. China atleast able to implement few policies that helped then to integrate the nation. After 60 years of independence, still we don't have population control program in place. The vote bank politics at its best. Who knows what is going to our destiny. This country was ruled by Invaders for more than 1000 years. Got divided on religion lines because Invaders spread their religions. Hope better sense will prevail...

The country has to be retrieved. It is futile to expect better sense to prevail from those who will do anything for money.
