The crux of the problem is the traitor politicians starting from 1947...you know who...the clan continues to destroy and make India weaker, while the Swiss accounts and black money outstrips the legal institutions on ALL fronts---judicial, Income Tax, Police, Defense--internal and external. Simply disgusting.
... and its for everyone to see the way the justice system works in democracies. people get paid millions for dog bites whereas some people are left scott free for horrendous crimes... india and us are slowly but steadily moving towards anarchy

Yeah. Better start a NEW JOINT CRICKET LEAGUE & presto!!! They would have found a Magic Wand so to say. The already Nincompoop, Useless n Unenterprising Indians would be rejuvenated at the mention of Cricket & the Crafty, Greedy n Inhuman Americans would have found a new marketplace & innovative way for marketing their garbage merchandise.
India is royally screwed by the Americans and the Pakistnis. Why do you care whether the US wins or loses in Afghanisthan? You should only care about selling softawre to them. Your friend Karzai has switched sides in spite you spending 1.2 billions and India looks like an idiot in the international arena. Now that you have been down graded to a third rate power, shut up and focus on trade with US. Without it your economy is nothing. The problem with India is it wants to be treated like a big power and does not know how to behave like one. Perhaps the policy makers are clones of this author.

You sound like a non-Indian, or someone who has no connection to India at all. India has done work in Afghanistan such as roads, hospitals, power lines, schools, clinics, water supply units etc, that has been appreciated by the Afghan people and the Afghan government. You also make it look like India is in the wrong. The wrong is entirely in Pakistan, with the Americans being complicit to a degree, and D

U.S. wants a stable and democratic Afghanistan,it doesn't want to occupy the land. When the goal was reached, it will withdraw. What's wrong with that? Why do we Indians want Americans staying there, costing $35 bn /month of tax payers money? What the author implies is U.S. didn't give us money. But please remember they don't owe us a dollar, a penny. Why do we expect money from U.S.? As far as China, it doesn't consider India its enemy, why do we hate them so much??
Nice article but shouldnt we fight our war oursleves. The first step is to put our nation in order.Make no concession but stamp down on any illegal activities and divisions practiced by majority and minority. Make the nation something that its citizens will die for. Give basic education, health and infrastructure to all citizens. Build one nation with its diversity rather than a artificial monolith nation as some nutties who have not learned anything from history are trying. We fight our wars and mitigate our troubles. Throw the commies out of India. They have always tried to make us poor, lazy and second to their masters in China and old soviets. We should accelerate our development with inclusive ness. The wealth of the nation should not be concentrated on a few. There are so many more ways to do it. The way BJP is behaving is the Lieber*** report is the most important report which affects them. What about the 1 billion people who expect them to behave as responsible opposition and look after their problems? Why dont they ensure the government is on the right track? They are wasting our money to improve their image. Why did GOD give us so many idiots congregate at one place. Does the politicians reflect the society who elected them? LOL
What sort of idiot tells the date he is going to withdraw. the taliban and isi will just wait for two years and then come back. This obama is starting to look like a spineless fool.
PRO ACTIVE INDIA IS IN THE DREAMS OF WHO DAY DREAMS.INDIAN ARE DIE HARD LAZY AND PAASIONATE.THEY BELIEVES IN HELPING OTHERS.THEY NEVER WORK TO DEVELOP LIKE ALL OTHER RELIGIONS.SEE THE BUDDHISTS WHO ARE PRODUCTS FROM INDIA ARE TRUELY PATRIOTS AND THEY ARE PRO ACTIVE ALTHOUGH LORD BUDDHA TAUGHT NON VIOLENCE BUT THEY ARE HIGHLY PRO ACTIVE.IN WORLD CHINA,SHRILANKA ARE MAIN BUDDHIST NATION.WE WANT THAT PEOPLE OF WORLD SHOULD SEE THAT HINDUS ARE ALSO PRO ACTIVE WHEN IT COMES TO THEIR OWN SURVIVAL.BUT FOR THAT WE HAVE TO GET OURSEVES STRONG.WE ARE PROUD THAT WE HAVE WON WAR WITH PAKISTAN MANY TIMES BUT WE SHOULD ALSO REMEMBER THAT WE ARE A DEFEATED NATION IN WAR WITH CHINA WHO HAD OCCUPIED OUR 80000 SQKMS OF LANDS TILL NOW IN WHICH THE LAKE MANSAROVAR IS ALSO INCLUDED.SHAME ON ALL THE HINDUS FOR CALLING THEMSELEVS WARRIORS INSPITE OF BEING A DEFEATED NATION.
Every country has to do things on its own to safeguard its own interest. This is true whether it is US, China or Pakistan. If we have failed in that, how can we blame anyone else for that. We are always at the doors of US, China, Russia like beggars to do things which we should be doing in the first place ... Pathetic bas**ds that we are

I inherently dont ... but the way Indian polity behaves can give complex to any Indian. Indians get mocked mainly because of the failures of the Indian politicians ... I am sure you are very proud of them ...

"more reasons to be optimistic than pessimistic.." Yeah...considering it is very hard for me to imagine how things can get worse now. Or may be I'm just not creative enough.

While Barak Obama clearly would like to exit the war, a bad commander that he is proving to be, China would be looking forward to make the most gains with pakistan taking away the leftovers.
With the dream of dominating the world, China must indeed be eager to see America defeated and humiliated in Afganistan
Pakistan has its designs clearly cut out, to restore the status quo to the pre 2001 era of taliban domination, in order to carry out its single minded goal of defeating and breaking India yet again to pay back for the Bangladesh humiliation
Pakistani army cannot beat india in a hand to hand combat, a lesson they learnt well in 1971, they must rely upon the taliban and similar forces to carry out the invisible war against India
It will be unfortunate for India if the Americans compromises and exit. India has a great stake in Afganistan for the safety of its own future
Once the battle of Afganistan is lost, so will the war against terror
