Writing since 325BC
by girish thampi on Sep 01, 2009 01:58 PM  | Hide replies

Dr. Pandit, one minor disagreement. If Mahabharat war started in 3067 BC and Sage Vyasa has written Mahabharata as a witness, then writing or putting everything down to written medium must have existed in Bharat much before the advent of Alexander in 325BC.

yes what the problem here.and alexender was resisted here by highly organised armies having trained elephants.treaties were signed during that time and trade was carried out between greece and india.soldirers of alexende got scared of elephants in army and thus it was one of reason for his sudden retreat.

Sage Vyasa did not write. He recited. Everything was in memory those times. Writing started much later.

Writing medium was the bark of the trees and animal skin in those days. Despite burning of Taxila and Nalanda universities by muslim rulers, there are still written scriptures before Alexander invaded. Also story telling generation to generation kept them alive.

Read the book, "Eminent Historians" by Arun Shourie (BJP MP) to know how our own historians are writing an anti-Hindu history. When BJP tried to correct the false history during 1998-2004, it was accused of saffronization.

Excellent work against our religious and political hypocrites
by narayan saipokuri on Sep 01, 2009 01:09 PM  | Hide replies

Excellent work Mr.manish . We Indians need to prove our history not only to the world but our own fellow Indians who are brain washed by foreign religions.

I saw one mister Viveks comments on comparing Krishna with Jesus .He is perfect example of brain washed slave of whites . Vivek remember that all our ancestors faught agianst these christian atrocities against us the Indians. They treated us worse than dogs, slaves robbed our money . That is the reason we fought for the independence. The fact that you or your dad hugged their religion shows you dont have any self esteem of being Indian. You better get lost from India and take shelter at your foreign masters houses and sing their glory as their slave .

Why krishna kept 16000 wifes? What krishna had with those gopikas is divine love and not what you think as physical marital relation . read Bhagavath before you can comment on our sacred personalities . This is for all brain washed Indians not Vivek alone .

mailerumsfield, as per Hiindu mythology, Lord Krishan had 16008 wives; I do not know whether Dr. Zakir Naik has appropriated the balance for himself.

Poor Mohd could not reach any where near that figure!! He always got only "second hand" material, except for one child-bride.

Re: Why there could not be technological transfer to us?

The general policy of most of the rulers during the 700 years of Musliim occupation of India was to systematically replace the fabric of Hiindu society and culture with a Musliim culture. They tried to destroy Indian reliigions language, places of knowledge (universities e.g Nalanda and TAxshila were totally destroyed by Musliims). They destroyed and desecrated places of thousands of temples including Somnath, Mathura, Benaras, Ayodhaya, Kannauj, Thaneswar and in other places. There was wholesale slaughter of the monks and priests and innocent Hiindus with the aim to wipe out the intellectual bedrock of the people they overran.

The Musliims could not subjugate India with ease and were never able to rule it entirely. There was a valiant and ceaseless struggle for independence by Hiindus to deliver India from Musliim tyranny. The Rajputs, Jats, Marathas and Sikhs led this struggle in North India. In the South this struggle was embodied in the Vijayanagar Empire. This struggle culminated when the Marathas ended to the Musliim domination of India.

Later the European colonizers looted our wealth and transferred to their Countries. They replaced our indigenous institutes of learning with English education specially designed for creating "Clerks" for them.

In the 14th century, royal patronage to the Peetham began with the founding of the famous Vijayanagar empire under the divine guidance of the 12th Acharya, Jagadguru Sri Vidyaranya. The austerity of the Acharya influenced the rulers to such an extent that they began ruling in the name of the Acharya and granted the Peetham the rights over secular administration of the land. At the rulers' request, the Acharya began conducting a Durbar during the Navaratri festival - an occasion deemed by the rulers to honour their Guru. Subsequently, the Acharya came to be known as the Karnataka Simhasana Prathisthapanacharya and the Peetham became a mighty institution - a Samsthanam and is known to this day as the Jagadguru Shankaracharya Mahasamsthanam, Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham at Sringeri. Over the succeeding centuries, a number of empires and rulers including the Mysore Maharajahs including Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan, the Nizam of Hyderabad, the Peshwas and the Keladi rulers were drawn towards the Peetham and respected the Acharya as their Guru

If we were so developed in those days of Ramayana, mahabharata, why are we so backward at this very juncture? our Technological advances, especially "Astras" or we can compare them with missiles, why we have to take the technology from other countries? What happened to our advances?

Dear Rajan,

Some attribute this to the peace mantra india and the whole subcontinent embraced during 200BC-550AD timeframe. A lot of things changed in India after King Asoka became a peace lover. The peaceful state deviated the terrirory from being prepared for wars or envading other states. This may have paved the way to give-in to foreign invaders who later destroyed much of its oriental wisdom and also adultrated the never-recorded history to permanently poison the large mass of vulnerable.

We cant complain that being peaceful was the mistake. Gandhi followed the same path and also successfully brought freedom to India. Instead of worrying why we are in this state, it is time to recognize that we have the potential to regain the leadership position and lead the world again. While it is true that we are buying missiles from other countries, it is also true that we made many miracles in technology space. We made the cheapest satellites. We built our own nuclear missiles even though we dint sell to others like the countries who treat this a line of business.

May be it is just a time to firm up ourselves on what we are and what we are capable of. Proving to the whole world can practically happen post that.

The astra/Shastra they way they are described is basically poetry and can be interpreted to any extent. The agni astra could be just one arrow with fire on it. The flying planes could be just big flying animal driven carts. Only few elite had the flying vehicle. Earth had so many different kind of species and hinduism goes back to the times when such animals existed.

This can only happen in India. In the name of computer simulation, a moron comes with a theory, and the rest of the ilk, get emotional and take sides. About Rama its a difficult proposition because it's in Treta period, very difficult for science to penetrate-my foot. The idiot does not explain his methodology, nothing about validity or generalizability is given, but a blanket claim on science based on his job description is made. How long; wake up you uncritical literates.

How many of scientific theories have been proved beyond doubt? Have black holes been proved ? Origin of Galaxy ? How life resides in one's body? None of the above have been seen or proved practically beyond doubt in Lab conditions. Everyone of them have been visualised after seeing certain repeated occurances. Everyone of the above are still remaining as theories which some moron thought of. There are matters of faith in science and there is scientific logic in religion. Just becos we do not understand does not mean that it is rubbish.

Dear Karthik the contention is not about proving anything beyond doubt-absolute certainty is a mirage. The point is about method, can a person following Achar's method get similar results, which is generalizability. History is verified through triangulation. Any event of history as a standard had to be confirmed by independent sources, which in most case is written works. I agree with you about the philosophy science, it has its own rhetoric to gain credibility. My problem with this idiot is he rides on the credibility of science, in what is actually a academic quackery. The quality of simulation, algorithm in any computer is completly depends on the quality of data fed into the machine. This fellow offers no details, but brazenly makes broad claims. Add to this an amateur with a camera, trying to fan the fallacy all over. But the greatest pain I have of all this is sensible people like you get emotional, defensive all the more overlooking the fraudster in a academician's garb.
