We don\\\'t consider the candites credentials, nor we think of his deeds ,what priority we give is cast creed and region, which this politicians have exploited fullest to their benefits.

Dynastic rule in Congresss is dangerous in the long run
by Ram Sharma on Jun 01, 2008 04:41 PM  | Hide replies

Internal democracy does not exist in Congress party. All power is concentrated in Sonia parivar, consisting of Sonia, Rahul & Priyanka. All appointments in states and center is done by this parivar only. There is no election there is only selection by high command in the party. Indira had destroyed internal democracy in the party.

Contrast it with the fierce competition in USA between Hillary Clinton and Obama for getting nominated to fight presidential election against the republican candidate. In Congress party only Sonia Parivar can choose the PM.

Once Congress was very democratic with stalwarts like Tilak, Gandhiji, Nehru, Patel, Kalam, Kamraj, Netaji etc. Now no one can go against the Parivar. Now veteran people like Arjun Singh openly say that they r loyal to Sonia (that means lolalty to the country is secondary). If the Congress party looses state elections, it is called as defeat of the local congress leaders and if it wins anywhere (which is very rare) they say the win is due to Sonia Parivar.

Sonia is ruling the country from behind the scene, though Congress got only 145/540 Lok Sabha seats, without any accountability and responsibility.

Three road shows of Rahul have flopped - in UP; Gujrat and K’tak. Still dynasty worshiping Congressmen want to make him the PM of the country. Would any other non dynasty congressman have been given so much freedom, power and opportunity?

This gives rise to dictatorial tendencies, corruption and nepotism and is very d

This gives rise to dictatorial tendencies, corruption and nepotism and is very dangerous for the country in the long run. Already dynasty has spread to RJD, DMK, JD(S), Shiv Sena etc.

No, indeed all Rahul road shows are superhit. Wherever he conducted road shows, congress was routed.

p.s. If BJP want to win general elections in 2009 with 2/3 majority, make sure that Rahul Baba conducts as many road shows as possible.

Jai Hind

Internal democracy within political parties is the only solution.
Till then democracy will remain in the hands of the few.

Don't be surprised if
by shiv kapur on Jun 01, 2008 04:21 PM

India would perhaps be the only country in the world where a rank outsider (both literally and metaphorically) could become the Supremo of the oldest political party of the nation without spending a single day as a grass-roots worker/secretary/gen sec etc.etc. and by the sheer charm of the last name. The quote by the unnamed Congressman about "bonded labour" is the height of political bigotry and hypocrisy which have become the trademarks of today's ruling party. These very Congressmen put their dhotis and kurtas at the footsteps of Madamji to "save" their ship after Sitaram Kesari's debacle.

If Mr.Shenoy's analysis is correct, I hope the Karnataka phenomenon of dynasty rejection is repeated in the 2009 Lok Sabha polls. Jai Hind.

A courtesy begets coutesy.
by Bishwa NathSingh on Jun 01, 2008 04:16 PM

The article written about "the arrogance of political dynasties" by T.V.R.Shenoy is worth reading. It is true that arrogance had harmed the congress party in Andhra Pradesh about twentyeight years ago and unlees, all concerned learn lessons from the past, stature of their parties will keep on going down unless they bring drastic changes in their thoughts & actions. They must learn from their past mistakes and correct themselves so that people at large can hold them in great esteem. It is a very popular idiom that coutesy begets coutest. If the concerned leaders are courteous towards their party workers, elderly people & well-wishers,they are bound to be loved otherwise no body will care as what you are & who have een your parentage.

We are born slaves
by Indian Viewpoint on Jun 01, 2008 04:15 PM

Our mindset of being slaves is not changing. We always look for a master however useless he is. Else, how can we explain our loyalty to Nehru.... Sonia ...... Rahul .... his great grand sons?

We support the politicians despite knowing that they are minting money and politics is their family business. We are like stupids follow them and waste our time and money.

Similar is the case of fan following to the cricketers and film star.

Nobody can save these slave! Change should be within.

Often it is frustrating!!!!

Arrogance of power
by SHREESHA RANGANATH on Jun 01, 2008 04:01 PM

Good article and a good lesson for the political leaders. Let me remind readers that just before Karnataka Elections, Deve Gowda, boasted "with an utmost arrogant face" that only he will hold the key for forming the new Government. His face has not to be seen in any TV after the elections. Power has gone to his head and that of his sons.
