West love to see the Hungry & Naked third world which is full of crime and illicit relations in the family due to less literacy and uncivilized way to live and treat each other.
Mira Nair has done the same to please the emperors. None of her movie talks about the India%u2019s contributions to the world, neither ancient nor modern. Basically she is suffering with %u201CWestern illness%u201D, she feels good if any Western clap after seeing a nude picture on Indian woman.
This award has no meaning at all... Award is been given by one malbari to another for some foolish work. I think Vikram Pandit CEO of CITIBANK deserves this award than mira nair. She has not done anything extraordinary apart from making vulgar films.

most people misunderstand media awards: they are intended by the vulgars for the vulgars. however, to dignify themselves, they do manage rope in genuine gems such as nooyi and bhagavati who can't refuse because the community is small and people try to get along. in the end money talks.

"...the evening began with Ajit Balakrishnan, publisher of India Abroad, the oldest Indian-American weekly, owned by rediff.com, lauding the winners and the Indian-American community's achievements." Rediff cannot be chided for doing publicity on its own web site.
Some wested interest people are making this lady an important person. Like how salman Rashdi has been awarded. She, through her films humiliated hindus. Some practices are never exists any where. Such age old treditions she took and made film just show hindus are how bad. We have left many practices as we educated more and advanced. Is it the case with Islam? Can she make some film on womens problems in Islam? At least Taslima is better. Making a film is expressing. What she expressed? An abondened tredition. Her film fails both in entertainment and education of society. Utter no sense

Her 'Namesake' and 'Missisipi Masala' were brilliant movies. Stop being a fanatic and appreciate art. You may not agree with her beliefs but what is beautiful is beautiful, whoever makes it.
