Frankly speaking, all her movies are overrated (may be because she was showing India in a negative light and getting applauded by western media)Shekhar Kapoor is a much better Director.

if not her then who. See if it wouldn't had been in news u might not have pointed out . The fact of the matter is that she is Indian and that makes us proud and surely she is not awarded for the wrong reasons or depicting wrong things. And please be clear to whom u wanted to be honoured.

what is her contribution to her own state Orissa in India? See the plight of the women in orissa? It is pathetic. What is their literacy rate? Dissmal. She talks about her achievement abroad. She, following Ray has projected only poverty of our country and has not dared to project the achievements. Both have earned millions of dollars but did nothing for development of their mother state. See Ray's daughter - one is following her father tradition and the other is busy in Re-mix showing her anatomy as if that is only life.
This honour yet again is indian settled abroad sponsored.
I would congralute the immence pain and sacrifice made by Indians abroad to raise to iconic heights in global scnerio and made the impact profound that is called brand India.
wat hapnd to "Shantaram" wid Jonny Deep & Amitabh Bacchan?????? We Shantaram(Best seller by G.D. Roberts) lovers ver under impresion dat she is upto it.... has she dropd d plan or wat?????
Indians get awards abroad which they actually deserve. Where as in India, the awards are manipulated. Who must have thought ' Black' will garner so many awards. The movie was in fact remake of a foreign film and whole of India went ga..ga.. over it.
Mira Nair and rediff.com deserve the appreciation of whole world for such a function, which apparently is an event to be remembered.
I congratulate the board of India-Abroad/Rediff.Com and the selection committee for selecting Mira Nair for this prestigious award.Kiran Hari, New York
