Sham in the name of religion
by sajansajan on Apr 16, 2008 11:24 AM  | Hide replies

Thousands of temples were destroyed when Narmada dam was created. To many tribals areas, these were ancient and sacred and faith was attached but BJP had no problem with them getting removed because at that time BJP would have got votes in Gujrat by building of the dam. It was BJP government which sanctioned this project but now that it sees that it can get votes by opposing this project, it has gone about creating an issue. This party is so pathetic It has no principles and no thought of nation. It will do any thing for votes.
People are also stupid to listen to it. They forget the wisdom of centuries. Dayananda said idols were stones and called idol worshippers stupid and foolish. He found arya samaj against this brahamanical idiocracy. Haridas said "Pather puje hari mile to mein pujun pahad". Gautam Buddha's philosiphy was born out of disillusionment with idol worshippers and so was Mahavir Jains. Guru Nanak asked his followers to espouse the religion of humanity and not look to Kashi and Kaaba. today however when someone opposes Rama Setu (a stone structure) he is called Paki/Xian/Commie/Convert/Dalit by neo-Hindus. Had Dayanand, Buddha, Jain and Nanak existed in this day and age, BJP would have launched violent agitation against them or forced them to quit India.
We have indeed progressed a lot that we choose to debunk all progressive thinking as inspired from Islam and Christianity.

by proud iyer on Apr 16, 2008 11:24 AM  | Hide replies

sethu project is needed for tamilnadu development. the southern tamilnadu is underdeveloped, project like sethu bring ships which inturn bring jobs, money, upliftment of standard of living for tamils in southern TN,You persons who is fighting for ramsethu bridge sitting in cushion room & ac chair will not know the suffering and underdevelopment of southern TN. YOU should not use religion to stop development. everybody is talking about economical viability. even in sethu project is a economical failure it atleast bring job & money to southern TN people who are needy . it is better to help poor people that fill the coffers of hyper rich.

destruction of ecosystem
by saigeetha jagannathan on Apr 16, 2008 11:23 AM  | Hide replies

This project will destroy the entire ecosystem of the rich Gulf of Mannar and Palk strait apart from religious point of view. This project will cause extensive damage to the rich coral reefs and species like dolphins, sharks, endangered sea turtles and hundreds of indigenous fish species. Man is often too selfish to ignore the fact that this Earth is also a home to innumerable animal and plant species. Its not our sole property.

Dear crazy funky,
Preserving eco system is more important than enhancing business. Do you think business and money are worthier than life?. Did business and money save people from destructive tsunami that engulfed nearly 2 lakh lives?.

I just took the example of tsunami here to show that life is more precious than money. Have you ever heard of sea erosion?. Coral reefs control sea erosion and also support several fish species in co-existence. This is the feeding ground of several endangered underwater animals. This enhances oxygen level in ocean which is very important to fight global warming. Likewise, there are many advantages which when destroyed will lead to disaster.

A simple Question to all hindus.

How is Ram Setu important ? Is it because it is mentioned in their ancient scriptures ? If yes then why the forests, animals and rivers of India are disappearing and no one cares. These things are also mentioned in your scriptures. What is there in the Setu that takes precedence over (for e.g.) the ganges. Now the ganges has become a big sewage but you are comfortable with it. The vultures (garuda) have disappeared and you are comfortable with it. Can any hindu explain.

And if you want to abuse me instead of answering me then you can abuse me as much as you like.

My dear friend,
Its good you came up with these basic issues. At least someone is their who is discussing the basics. to clerify your facts:
1) Ravan's temple is found and exist till today in Srilanka... is it mythical?
2) Airport which Ravan used for flying his aeroplane still exist in Srilanka.
3) Place where actually war happened still exist in srilanka.
you will say, this all exist in Srilanka, what do we have in India. Then to prove that:
1) We have a temple where Ram did his puja before proceeding to srilanka via bridge.
2) We still have the stone preserved in one of the mandir in TN which floats in water.
3) we still have the place called chtrikoot where bharat met RAM. we have one of the Jyotiringa where Ravan kept the Shivlinga which was gifted to him by lord Shiva.

and there are many...

man ..... Mullah ki dodh masjit tak...
