To consider these Imams as muslims , they are real shame on their community. If they are citizens of India they are bound to follow the rules. No one can be made exempt . The average layment don't care about these priestly princes.Indian society has to really that we are a 50 year old democracy.Hope many know the storey of Warren Jeff in united states.Any religious leader who is trying to propogate laws which are against the civil laws of the country should be bround under prosecution.It is high time a unified civil code is brought out.If there is onething that divided the country it is the ignorant stands taked by the central government on sensitive issues.These issues eventually erode the credibility of democracy and it would be exploited by feudalistic parties. What a shameful situation.
The one thing we cannot do is to paint a people from a religion with the same brush. The Mufti may be a religious folk, who resents the interference of Govt. in his religion, given time, he will come around. He may not have meant to offend the laws of the land. However, this is an important issue, as Muslim women need protection from irresponsible idiots that don't follow the religion and simply take advantage of the laws. This is what the SC is pointing out.
Marriage registrations should not only be compulsory but also should be legally bound. None registration should be considered as punishable crime. This is the best way to prevent marriage of minors. Before marriage the prospective couple should produce their capability (physical and economic self dependency) before a court. If needed they should be given necessary trying for marriage life, family planning etc.
First thing India should do is to get this kashmiris out of kashmir...India is spending more on them than it is getting out of Kashmir. These kashmir have driven all Pandits out of their home...Indian military needs to flush this people out

Dude . No religious leader is better than the other.In the first place if they were smart enough they would be scientists or artists or good politicians.Unfortunately spiritualism has become the refuge of a vast amount of scoundrels.This is there with every relgion.It is high time we laymen put a check on the religious leaders of our communities so that the integrity of our nation is kept intact.These people would split the country again if they are not allowed to go like this.So stop bashing the average muslim and instead bash the religious leader craps.

Just jail these morons for contempt of court. Muslim marriage has nothing to do with love, it is a contract for physical relationship. Their Kabin basically gives a man right to a woman's body. There is nothing wrong with registering a contract. Marriage is nothing but legal prostitution, nothing illustrates this better than muslim marriage.
so let them be. Let them liive in their own world. If they dont wanna go ahead then let them be. Let them stand in the line of bureaucracy and prove their relationships to people smoking bidi's and chewing tobacco.
