One need not necessarily register every marriage at the wedding time. It can be registered later by sending a copy of Nikahnama or other relevant material for other faiths.
If you find the court of law necessary for confirming divorces and settling maintenance amounts how can you say that it is interference when it comes to registration?

I don't see any reason why muslim marriage should not be registered. registration of marriages is a good thing and give legality to the institution of marriage. Only backward thinking people like the mufti of jammu can oppose it

yes it is true only backward or wested interest people can protest agianst marriage registration as muslim clercks.These muslim imams and muftis(mostly self appionted-ill educated)do not know in most of muslim countries like tunisia, jordan ecc.ecc is obligatory to register marriages in muncipolity even if they are celeberated by imam or religious way.
